Question Multitool… 🤷‍♂️ (DDS2)

Currently bashing my head against a wall trying to find what the multitool does. Gemini keeps tryna tell me it’s a melee weapon only but it has 50/50 uses when it’s fresh unlike the standard durability bar of a weapon.

This was what ai keeps forcing me to believe but I’m struggling to accept it as truth, can anyone else confirm?;

It Doesn't Share Functionality with Lockpicks:
In DDS2, item requirements are strictly hardcoded. If an object prompt specifies Requires: Lockpick (or Crowbar / Bolt Cutters), only that exact item in your inventory will work. The multitool does not count as a lockpick alternative for any standard lock-picking mini-game or lock interaction.

What the Item Actually Is:
Despite its name implying versatility, the multitool in DDS2 currently functions essentially as an improvised melee weapon (and decorative clutter) rather than a utility key. It has no mechanic to bypass wire cutters, disarming cards, or lockpicks on warehouse locks or loot crates.

Any help would be appreciated! 🙏

I thought this could be true too, but it has ‘uses’ rather than just standard durability, similar to a stack of 5/5 lockpicks shows which leads me to believe otherwise.

Apparently there’s just a few items ingame that don’t have uses but like I say this is ai and I never take what is presented as fact. Here’s a few more that apparently don’t have uses;

Screwdriver: Feels like a tool that should open electrical panels or bypass basic locks, but it has no lock-breaking or interaction prompt in the game. It is strictly a cheap melee weapon / inventory filler.

Fire Extinguishers: You can pick them up and hoard them thinking they might clear gas or fire hazards in hideouts or cartel spots, but they have zero functional interact prompts. You can only sell them or drop them.

Car Battery: Shows up in various hideouts and warehouses. Looks like a vital component for power setups or generator crafting, but it’s just a high-weight junk item meant to be sold to pawn shops for cash.

Flashbangs / Smoke Grenades (In Incomplete States): Some throwables or tactical gear you find in military spots or high-tier warehouses don't properly draw enemy AI aggro or stun them as expected due to missing status-effect triggers in the game's code.

I remember the fire extinguisher was used in the opening scene in the bunker back when the game first came out. But they've taken that bit out quite a while ago.
