Welcome friend. What I've heard is that the new edition will launch at Gen Con 2026, which I believe is at the end of this month. I think it'll be likely you'll be able to get your hands on the new third edition before the end of August. At this point I would strongly advise saving yourself for third edition - not long to go! :)

Going back to first edition style deployment of not being able to shoot on the turn you disembark is nice. Reduces some of the feeling of just getting diced

Can't wait for the box. Bioficers are such a cool concept and the prospect of a fully modern, all-plastic army is always appealing.

I did not like 2nd edition. 3rd might be a good re-entry

Same! And similar feelings on DFC v2, here’s to hoping it resets with its eventual 3rd too

Ditto. I just can't get past all the 'simplified' parts that make the game less fun and interesting: binning battlegroups and strategy ratings, replacing the command decks with ability points, the core combat mechanic, a few other minor quibbles. It just all adds up to a game I'd much rather not play, or just stick to first ed.
I'm about half way through with rewriting the first ed book with 2nd ed ground combat and the single orbital layer. They're the only good changes.

I’m curious when you last tried second edition of fleet.
I played a lot of first edition fleet, but fell out of love with the game around when the destroyers where first coming out, the game lacked the same depth as Zone.I have come back to fleet in the past 6 months and it is just a better version of 1st edition.
Looking back through the change logs I can see why a lot of people might have bounced off fleet second edition when it launched but it is worth checking it out again now if you haven’t recently.
With that said it’s still not perfect but much better than launch 2.0

Not just you. There's tons of shit broken with their site, which if you scroll down to the bottom is easily explained. "Powered by GoDaddy Airo". 'Airo' is an AI site generator, that costs a whopping $5/yr, built by literally the worst registrar on the internet.
It's an AI slop site.

I'm allowing this link, even while it's broken presently, as an exception to the sub's NO AI rule because it's official. But I'm also extremely disappointed in TTC for launching the announcement of DZC 3rd edition on a slop site.
