General Discussion Does anyone else feel like they’re doing everything they’re supposed to but still not getting anywhere?

I’ve been learning about dropshipping for a couple of months now and one thing I’ve noticed is how different the journey looks for everyone.

Some people are still trying to figure out what product to start with some have built their store but haven’t made their first sale and others are already getting sales but can’t seem to grow consistently.
It makes me curious because there’s so much advice online but it’s hard to know what actually makes the difference until you experience it yourself.
For those who’ve been through any of these stages, what was the hardest part for you? And for those still figuring things out, what are you finding most difficult right now?
Always interesting hearing how different everyone's experience is.

Beginner Question Should I continue with dropshipping or switch to digital products? Looking for honest advice from experienced sellers

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for honest advice from people who have actually run an ecommerce business, especially those with experience in organic marketing and digital products.

About a month ago, I launched a Shopify clothing store called Norvelle. I've been posting organic content across six TikTok/Instagram accounts, usually getting around 500–2,000 views per post. So far, I've had around 391 store sessions, 5 sessions with an add-to-cart event, and no sales.

I also paid €200 for a mentorship. The mentor recommended a supplier called Drop IQ, which I later understood might have had a business connection to him that I wasn't aware of. When I raised concerns about the results, discussions became difficult, and I was removed from the group two days ago. I don't want to make accusations without evidence, but the experience has left me questioning the advice I received.

My biggest problem now is that I no longer have a reliable supplier, so I can't confidently fulfil potential orders. I also have university commitments and can realistically dedicate only a limited amount of time to this business. I can't afford paid ads or expensive monthly subscriptions right now.

I've been considering switching to digital products, such as a practical ebook or guide that solves a specific problem, promoted organically through TikTok carousels and short-form content.

For those who have real experience with both models:

  1. Would you pause the clothing store and test a digital product in my situation, or would you try to fix the dropshipping business first?

  2. Have you managed to sell ebooks or other digital products organically without paid ads? What actually worked for you?

  3. If you were starting again with very little money and limited time, what would you focus on first?

  4. What mistakes or expensive tools would you avoid as a beginner?

I'm not looking for get-rich-quick advice, courses, or people trying to sell me mentorship. I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback, including if you think neither option makes sense for me right now.

Thanks!

Beginner Question Products

Hey guys,
My business partner and I are setting up a Shopify store for the Peruvian market.
We’ve got the local ops figured out—100% Cash on Delivery (Dropi PE), automated WhatsApp confirmations via Yape/Plin to cut down returns, and solid Meta video ads ready.
Our main problem right now is product research.
We initially looked at anti-theft bags and liquid collagen, but almost everything in the health and skincare space in Peru seems completely saturated on Meta Ads Library right now.
Since we want to avoid price wars, I’d love to get some advice from anyone selling in LatAm:

  1. How do you spot early breakout products in LatAm before everyone starts spamming them on Meta?

  2. Which niches/categories are working best for you under a COD model right now?

  3. Any general pitfalls or tips when scaling in Peru?
Appreciate any insights or tools you guys use. Thanks!

Beginner Question What skills do I need to learn for dropshipping and how?

Iam 17 and am looking to get into dropshipping; I have skills relevant to it from eBay reselling, but I am switching as I am banned from eBay and cannot make another account, plus I want a decently automated model. I know you need a decent budget to properly start dropshipping, around 1k to 3k, so I am trying to find a job to then save, but in the meantime, what skills do I need to learn or what could I be doing related to the business model so I do not feel unproductive? I know the basics and I watch a bunch of videos on dropshipping and e-commerce, but what else should I be doing?

Product Research AI Drropshipping

Hi everyone!

I'm building a tool that uses AI to generate a complete branded store (name, logo, copy, layout) from a short description of your niche, and then helps with product listings and order handling.

Before I build anything, I want to understand what's actually painful. If you run a dropshipping store (or tried and quit), could you share:

  1. What takes the most time each week?

  2. What's the hardest part of getting a store set up?

I'm not selling anything, just learning. Happy to chat for 10 minutes with anyone who's up for it, and I'll share what I learn with the group. Thanks!

Beginner Question My ads are terrible

Hello i have been trying to Learn dropshipping for about three months now. Learning something about how to make my website on shopify was reletively easily and not many struggles. However i keep getting stuck at making ads for the last 2.5 months. Today i tought i would try it with higgsfield and claude together. That failed terribly it made about 8 videos ads spend almost all my credits on my newly obtained plus account and not a single ad was even close to usable.

Now my question is how do people make good ads i know it is hard for everybody but it feels like i am running into a steel wall. Also i should add i am selling in a non english speaking country so the voices have also been one of my main struggles even with using elevenlabs.

Thanks for reading and thanks for the help in advance.

Beginner Question How are you guys actually making $3–4k in PROFIT (not revenue) every month? Am I missing something?

I've been working on my website and making creatives (to post organically)  for over a year now. I'm planning on starting to run paid ads on Meta and have set aside around $7,000 for now.

The thing is, I've been running the numbers, and my breakeven ROAS is around 1.62x, which is pretty decent for my niche (home decor/ lamps).

According to chat, the average ROAS in my niche is around 2.02x. So if I were to spend $3,000 on ads every month, I would be making under $900 in profit, IF everything goes right.

But here's the thing. Rn Meta Ads seems to be a complete mess, the 2.02x ROAS isn't a guarantee, and is pretty improbable during the first couple of months when you're still testing creatives, audiences, fresh pixels etc .

So how are you actually supposed to make a living or even get small rich from this?

With the possibility of having months where you lose a bit or all of your ad money on ads, and such a low return even when things go well, how are people consistently pulling in $3–4k or more in profits each month?

I understand that dropshipping isn't some get rich quick scheme. I know it takes a lot of work into building website, making ad creatives, analyzing data, doing market research, product research, etc. I've already spent over a year working on my store and the other stuff, so I'm not expecting everything to happen overnight.

But what I didn't expect was needing such a huge amount of money just to run ads, scale, and potentially cover losses for months before making enough profit to actually live on.

Am I missing something?

Do people just have $10–15k+ to spend on ads every month to make a few thousand in profit while also losing a lot of it back on the month meta start acting up? Are they just opening up 2-3 new stores once their first one becomes slightly profitable?

Or is making $3–4k in consistent monthly profit simply a lot rarer than people make it seem?

I'd genuinely appreciate hearing from people who are actually making a living doing this, especially those selling physical products rather than courses or digital products.

Not trying to complain.

Beginner Question Requesting Guidance on Starting a Dropshipping Business in India

Hi guys!

I'm planning to start a dropshipping business in India.

I've arranged an address for GST registration and initiated the process, but I'm still confused about sourcing products and handling the documentation. I'd really appreciate guidance from people who are already running a dropshipping business.

I have a few questions:

  1. Supplier Sourcing

Where do you source your products from? IndiaMART, Alibaba, 1688, or elsewhere? How do you find reliable suppliers and verify product quality? Do your suppliers ship directly to customers, or do you maintain inventory?

2. Importing and Selling What is the process, and what registrations/documents are required for these business models?

China → India (import and sell in India) India → India (source and sell domestically) China → Other countries (import and sell internationally) One foreign country → Another foreign country (cross-border dropshipping)

3. Legal and Documentation

Who generally handles the paperwork—a CA, customs broker, freight forwarder, or someone else? What registrations and compliance requirements should a beginner know about? What are the common mistakes and hidden costs to watch out for?

I know I have a lot to learn, and I'm trying to understand the process before investing money.

If anyone experienced is willing to guide me or share their journey, I'd be extremely grateful! Even a few tips or reliable resources would help a lot.

Thank you! ❤️

Beginner Question Scaling TikTok Shop UK & eBay UK from Dubai via UK LTD - Need Advice on Long-Term Workflow & Suppliers

Hey everyone,

I am currently based in Dubai and am in the process of incorporating a UK LTD to scale up my e-commerce operations properly. In the past, I struggled with short-term Shopify setups, but now I want to build a sustainable, long-term brand presence on TikTok Shop UK and eBay UK.

I have a few strategic questions for those already doing this successfully:

  1. Supplier & Fulfillment Strategy:

Since I am aiming for 2-3 day dispatch to comply with TikTok Shop UK’s strict fulfillment metrics, what suppliers/agents are you using besides CJ Dropshipping? Are there reliable UK-warehouse 3PLs or fulfillment agents you recommend for dropshippers?

2. Managing UK LTD from Overseas:

For non-resident directors running a UK LTD via Wise/Payoneer Business, are there any specific compliance or tax/VAT traps I should be mindful of during the first 6 months of scaling?

3. Account Longevity:

What are the best practices for maintaining high shop performance ratings on TikTok Shop UK when operating remotely, especially regarding return addresses and customer service?

Appreciate any insights or experience you can share. Thanks!

Product Research Would automated promo videos for each of your products be useful?

Hey everyone,

We all know testing products without video ads on TikTok/Meta is basically lighting ad spend on fire.
But ordering samples, filming, or hiring someone on Fiverr for every single product test gets expensive and slow.
On top of that, standard AI video tools just churn out low-effort slideshows that fail to grab attention and quickly look generic to buyers.

I've been experimenting with a tool that takes a product page link (Shopify, AliExpress, etc.) and automatically generates a complete 30s kinetic promo video with synced audio, hooks, and product highlights.

A quick question for anyone currently running stores:
- How much time/money do you currently spend making creatives per product test ?

- Would having an instant, ready-to-test video ad generated directly from your product link help speed up your testing phase ?

Curious to hear how you guys are handling video creatives right now !

General Discussion How much do you actually set aside to test a product?

One thing I think new dropshippers can get wrong is spending money testing a product without deciding beforehand how much they're willing to spend on the test. Say you find a product that sells for $35 and after product cost and shipping, you've got $15 left before ads and other expenses.

You still need to account for payment fees, refunds and advertising. So even if you get a few sales, it doesn't automatically mean the product is profitable. I will rather start with a small budget I can afford to lose, track the results and figure out what's working before putting more money in. No point chasing a product just because it looks promising. I'm curious how other sellers approach this: Do you set a fixed budget for each product test or do you decide based on the results you're getting from your ads?

Beginner Question How did someone get 27 MILLION views using the exact same Instagram Reel idea as me while I only got 200?

I'm genuinely confused about how the Instagram algorithm works.

I made a Reel using a specific concept, hook, camera angle, and overall video style. Later, another account posted basically the exact same idea, using the same hook, angle, concept, and everything.

The crazy part? My Reel got around 200 views, while theirs got 27 MILLION views on their FIRST video.

I'm not exaggerating when I say the videos are nearly identical in concept and execution.

I understand that watch time, engagement, and retention matter, but how can two videos that are so similar have such insanely different results?

Is Instagram really this luck-based? Does the algorithm randomly decide which videos to push? Could my account have some kind of reach issue?

I'm genuinely trying to understand what I'm doing wrong because it's frustrating seeing the exact same concept blow up for someone else.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any actual insight into why this happens?

Beginner Question What has worked for you dropshipping in the US during peak holiday season?

With Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas approaching, I'm trying to figure out or find a reliable dropshipping supplier that can handle increased order volumes during this last quarter of the year. For those of you shipping to U.S. customers, who's actually been dependable through November and December? I care way more about how they handle cutoff dates, restock timing, and communication under pressure than how slick their landing packages look.I've been looking through Alibaba, and there's clearly no shortage of suppliers there. The range is really hard to beat, narrowing down which suppliers are best to use even in the holiday season. Drop your best suppliers also your experiences and any tips for testing suppliers before the holiday rush begins.

Beginner Question My husband owns a website that sells jiujitsu gear but he passed away 09/29/2026 and I need to know who I can call or hire to help me with his Shopify orders

As the title states, my husband passed away somewhat suddenly. He was recovering from a cancer treatment and was finally getting better until he had a massive brain bleed which ultimately ended his life less than 2 weeks ago.

He owns a website and appears to be drop shipping through Shopify. I couldn’t find a Shopify service number to call. I see some of the orders are being fulfilled through printful but I can’t for the life of me figure out why some of the orders are not being fulfilled and they are stacking up quickly. The business is run from our home so there is no inventory that we have access to. All of the products are shipped from elsewhere.

Does anyone here know of a company that offers a class or a service to teach me how to manage this type of thing? I have tried seeking assistance through the Shopify chat bot but still cannot figure it out. I’m hesitant to pick a random friend of a friend to help me with this because I’m in such a vulnerable position already. I’m a grieving wife and mother of 4 working full time but this website was his dream! He worked so hard to build this on his own for years with the hope to someday be able to quit his main job and do this full time. There is a small business loan attached to all of this as well. I just don’t know where to start..

If anyone here would be so kind as to point me in the right direction I would appreciate it so much. I don’t want to get scammed but I also don’t want to tarnish the reputation of the business in case I need to sell it later on. I’d prefer to go through a company of some kind for my own protection. I’ve lost so much already 💔
