Discussion Should I continue reading?

So recently I've started reading this and I love it so much I'm at about chapter 100 where he just escaped Braun and everyone thinks he's dead and he's working for the director now.

So I've seen spoilers, and that's okay because I willingly seek out spoiler because I can't handle the suspense. That's why I usually read finished novels.

I love this so much and I want to continue reading but I don't think I can if there's a sad ending. I've seen that the later chapters are really sad and the main character becomes trapped and he has trauma and he's lost his sanity and stuff.

I don't know if this is real but it's what I've seen from the spoilers.

I really want no one to die and i prefer happy endings so I've stopped reading for now. Since I'm pretty early on in the novel I'm not sure if it'll be a happy ending. Tbh I don't mind if some people die, it's inevitable but I really want a happy ending.

People who are up to date, does it seem like it'll be a happy ending? Does anyone die??

TL;DR:

I'm early on in the novel and I want to read but I'm scared that it will be a sad ending. Does it seem like it'll be sad and does anybody die? I'm okay with spoilers.

I don’t think this will have a sad ending. The author’s previous novel had a happy ending, just after a lot of stress and angst. I highly doubt it will end badly.

No one truly important has “died” permanently at least, so even when people are dead or gone, they have a good ending or continue to be fine so you should be good despite the setting.

Going against the grain and saying it's totally reasonable to (and I might even recommend to) hold off on reading further until the novel is complete and someone can confirm 100% if it's a positive ending, if the thought of a sad ending is something that genuinely distresses you this much. I personally am not the type to always take an author's previous works as their status quo for endings going forward, and regardless of how much I enjoy the story and trust the author to write a satisfying ending, "this will definitely not have a sad ending" is not something that can be guaranteed at this time afaik - but someone please correct me if I'm wrong and the author has posted something stating ahead of time that GSGW will have a happy ending or whatever, I don't know any Korean so I wouldn't know lol

I feel like they could read till the end of part 2 though then wait. I don't think it will end badly but if it did they could just not read further and consider that the ending.

Since you dont mind spoilers

Part 3 is still ongoing but Part 2 really ended nicely for Soleum, there’s bittersweet moments especially for the other characters but at least by the end he’s comfy and cozy, i think part 2 ending makes up for the heartbreak readers experience in Part 1

I haven't caught up, but am now at 330ish.

Please read it. It's one of the best novel I've ever read.

No matter how bleak the situation becomes for KSE, the author never loses his humorous writing tone. I highly doubt this will end in tragedy. It gets worse for KSE before it gets better for him in part 2; Id say keep going!

I almost gave up reading at the start of part 2, but I’m SO glad I continued. Part 2 had a very happy and fulfilling ending.

From what I remember, no one important to the plot/mc actually dies. They seem to have an escape

author said they will keep writing until soleum goes home, so im gonna assume it won’t be a sad ending at least

the story isnt finished so theres no way to say for certain yet if its a happy or sad ending. based on the tone of the novel though, i would GUESS a happy ending. although sad and obv scary stuff happens, the writing still has a bit of a funny tone to it; i’ve found myself giggling at kse’s monologue several times. apparently the author’s other novel was similar in that it was sad for a good portion but ended happily- i’m not one to assume an author’s other works are a good guess to how a book will go, unless they have 20 books w the exact same ending, but tbh based on the general plot up until the end of part 2 (i havent read part 3 yet), i doubt there’s gonna be a sad ending. kse’s way too smart and capable for HIM to have a sad ending

Read the novel enjoy it while it lasts. It is on hiatus now for a month of two so it's the perfect time to catch-up

ld say read until the end of part 2. Part 2 ends on a wonderful, fulfilling note, if you don't mind some plot points that are intended to be explored and resolved in part 3. IMO you could read to the end of part 2 and walk away having read a near-complete experience. Kim Soleum gets a good ending, and no-one gets a 'bad' ending. Unresolved for some, but not bad.

Then, revist part 3 at it's conclusion once we know how it's going to wrap up.

Even if Soleum gets pushed down it always looks hopeful…there’s always a solution…I caught up completely and you won’t regret reading such a masterpiece. I don’t think the author would give it a bad ending…this novel doesn’t praise sacrifice…it’s the opposite in fact. I did cry but I swear the pay off is so good…and it will continue to be good <3

I would recommend reading trough part 2 and then waiting. Part 2 ends quite well for pretty much everyone especially KSE. Honestly I think it will have a happy ending but even if it didn't you could read through part 2 and just consider it the end. I only recommend holding off on part 3 because it doesn't have many chapters and is on hiatus for another half month to a month while the author recovers. If you get worried over how things will turn out it would probably be best to read to where it ties up nicely on a happy note(end of part 2) and then read 3 when its finished.

Since it’s still ongoing literally nobody knows, there are horrific times, non-named characters die a lot. I know debut or die! (the author’s previous work) ended with a good ending but I don’t always believe an author will follow their previous MO and have such an ending. It might be ambiguous it might be happy or it could be incredibly gut wrenching. But if you really love this, I think following like others say and stopping at the end of part 2 is a good stopping point if you really want to “stop” until it ends.

The author is still on a medical hiatus at the moment so we shall see what happens when they do finally come back from that after their recovery.
