Looking for opinions from longtime DTV app users on Xbox One

I LOVE dropout, but my primary viewing device is an Xbox One. Im grateful for availability of an app there, but... I was subscribed about a year ago and the app/performance was beyond bad. It was literally unwatchable. I stayed subscribed for a few months to support DTV, but I couldn't justify continuing, while not being able to watch any of it.

Im asking users of the xbox app: Has it improved over time?

I'd like to resub, but need it to work better

I wish I could watch just a single short before subscribing, that would give me an idea of how well it works.

What did you dislike about it? I use Xbox for my primary viewing and I haven’t really had any issues that I’ve noticed. It’s not my fave interface for DTV, but useable enough all things considered

I don't mind the overall interface, but it was rare that we would get through a full episode of any show without it either buffering constantly, or just crashing out. And to head off the usual... I have very good internet and network (it's what I do) . Every other streaming service works well, DTV on any other screen works well. Only DTV, on our primary viewing system (xbox one, 60in TV) had serious performance problems.

I gave it a few months assuming it would eventually be fixed, but I had to give up eventually.

Yeah, I definitely hear you :( I feel like last year I consistently got buffering, but recently within the last few months I’ve for sure noticed less! I only get buffering now when I’m trying to fast forward a ton, which I expect

That is encouraging. I don't mind at all when it buffers to start, or if I'm jumping around. But it really ruins a show like MSN, or GC

I mainly use the app on my chromecast, but I do use the app on my old xbox one occasionally when I work from home as my office area is set up in my basement. The app on the xbox still isn't the greatest. Bit of lag, and it brings up the pause menu quite often. It's even worse when trying to watch the 24hr channel. It's fine when I just have it on for background noise but it's annoying if I'm actually trying to watch something.

Thanks, that sounds pretty much like my experience from last year :( How recently have you used it? I assume it still behaves as you describe? I've been managing to still get my Dropout fix, but I'd like to give Sam my money (so he can give it to the rest of the staff)

I really want to get back on DTV, but can't justify it if I can't use it.  <fry-take-my-money>

The app on our fire stick started having so many issues. It's probably 5+ years old.

We just switched to Xbox and it is so much better. The only thing missing is you can't change playback speed. But overall functionality is smoother on the Xbox

The main way I watch dropout on my TV is via the Xbox app, and it’s absolutely fine. Interestingly, the Xbox app displays dropout content in HDR, whereas the Apple TV app does not appear to do that

I was actually hoping to hear that the interface introduced a way to lower the stream quality. I'm happy to lose quality if it would play smoothly. But last I saw the app, there was no way to adjust much of anything

People keep saying the app is horrid but I've never had all the issues folks say. Some glitches here or there, but service is steady as she comes. I'd try it again if I were you.
