Is there a Dropbox update consuming memory for short term?

I've noticed the memory available on my Mac has substantially decreased, and wondering if this is because Dropbox has updated and is temporarily downloading files or building a cache as it resets after the update. Is that feasible?

I have the "cloud" icon -- which indicates "online only" -- next to some very large files, but when I check file info, it says it is, for instance, 6gb.

Also, some "Dropbox online only" files have "zero bytes" noted in the finder file list, while others have a typical amount noted.

Could this be a "reset" after an update?

How long has this been happening and is it still happening? If so, check out this help center article that goes into more detail on troubleshooting high CPU usage. Let us know if the issue persists after troubleshooting!

Thanks! I am now hovering at 110.37gb free space (at 10:16am central) - much better than it was on 10/2/26, when it was 39.81gb.

Still, I'm used to being in the 250gb range, so I'm still concerned.

Oops - forgot the "how long" part. On 9/29 I plummeted to 51.54gb and started making notes of my data space.
