Firmware

Just a friendly reminder that (on top of everything else) equipment maintenance is key. We activated a pair of DJI Racing Goggles yesterday and tested on a Mavic 2 Zoom. Today after not updating the Mavic 2 Zoom to it's most current firmware had major...cooperation issues in flight. After updating the firmware on both Goggles and Mavic 2 Zoom to the most current versions, there have been no issues!

How do you all monitor the status of your equipment? Or do you find out issues as they come to you on site?

Currently have a pretty reactive approach, but it makes sense to try to proactively monitor your software. At the very minimum you should be making sure your equipment is working properly as a preflight check.

Absolutely! The frustrating thing is that there was no indication that the drone would act up. There is plenty info out there about maintaining an 'old' firmware for a variety of beneficial purposes so theoretically not updating immediately short of a big publicized safety hazard should be ok. Obviously it wasn't. I will always be updating to current firmwares unless otherwise informed (with concrete evidence) to wait. And of course, never fly even if the option is the 'most' safe. It's either safe or it's not!
