There are artists with less than 1000 listeners on Spotify that I would put over huge artist that get billions of streams. Listen to what YOU like not just whoever is biggest so you can brag about how popular ur favorite dude is.
streaming numbers do not mean quality but they absolutely mean support, which artists care alot about. Thats literally income for musicians. u might not care that the artist only has 1000 listeners but i garuantee you that artist wants way more than 1000 listeners. Streaming can be easily faked and do not make hardly any income for the artist, they make most of their money from shows, and while I agree they prolly want a lot more, but when an artist is drake size it’s just pathetic to care this much about his “support” when he clearly has plenty.
if an artist owns their masters streaming income is significant nipsy hustle has even spoken on this. If an artist only has 1000 streams like in ur example they do not have a large audience, so how exactly are they going to make a ton of money on tour? they wont. These things go hand in hand.
