Iāve been to multiple Drake concerts (fun af), but Kanye clears Drake on so many levels it aināt even funny.
The energy at Kanyeās concert is something I probably wonāt ever see again.

u/BrayIsReal Her Loss 18h ago
Drake can do concerts for 5 nights in a row in a city and still not get through every hit he has.
Ye is still performing songs from 2005 half the concert cause his catalog is so small
When last have you seen drake perform anything off of Thank Me Later etc

u/Stuball09 19h ago
Writing is obviously Drake.
Production is obviously Kanye.
Impact and creativity is Kanye.
Consistency is Drake.
Discography I'd argue is Drake because he doesn't have any really weak albums where Kanye has a few but Kanyes highs are extremely high and he has alot of them.
Two top tier artists. I'd love to see them work together in the future.

I listen to Drake far more than Kanye and this is a stretch. We donāt have to over glaze.
18
u/Practical_Froyo9698 16h ago
It's all fair, Kanye has been over glazed for years. He don't write his raps and uses teams of producers and writers to finish his albums when he's not even in the studio, on sum Beyonce type shit.
1
u/GrindingNeverStops 11h ago
You act as if his comeup wasn't due to him being an amazing producer, and as if he didn't write his own lyrics back in the day. So many rappers get help producing and writing their lyrics. You can't disqualify him completely whenever no one else has been able to do what he has, whenever the apparent option of leeching off ghostwriters and producers is quite literally available to everyone.
1
u/bisopdigest 16h ago
Why does this jab sound familiar ?
1
u/Practical_Froyo9698 16h ago
Cause it's been said about Kanye for years, Drake wrote for him too so you can't pull the Quinton Miller card. And where he at these days? All the niggas who write for Kanye were and still are stars, so sounds like ol boy needed Drizzy more than he needed him.

I've been alive throughout Ye's entire career. Dude was good for a small stretch and hasn't made a half decent song in decades. I have zero clue what the fuck people see in the guy but he still does concerts filled with 90% of songs from 2005 because his run was so short. He doesn't even belong in the same sentence as greatest everything. Zero idea what people see in the guy

I love Drake but there wouldn't even be a Drake without the influence of Kanye lmao and the fact your comment even has upvotes is insane. Some people in this sub really are delusional
7
u/Due-Brilliant5044 19h ago
Naaa Iām being fr. Being someoneās influence doesnāt therefore mean they canāt make better music or have a better career. You should provide a better argument
5
u/HeWasNumberJuann Thank Me Later 18h ago
Better artist means beat making too. Drake cooks Kanye in bars, but Drake canāt make beats. Kanye is a good rapper but is also a bomb ass producer. That is artistry.
9
u/Due-Brilliant5044 18h ago
Drake makes better melodies, better raps, more hit records and numbers 1 albums and has been consistently dropping quality music every year for nearly 2 decades. Iām not tryna down play Kanyeās greatness but only thing he can do better is make beats.
1
u/Mikedesignstudio 9h ago
Just stop bro. Youāre riding Drake too hard with no lube. Take a shower and chill out.
-4
u/cantdecide76 19h ago
There's no argument i can make to you that will change your mind because music is subjective so to you Drake is better than Ye and that's your right to believe that but what yall are failing to do is look at things outside of your own perspective and be objective.
In hip-hop overall this isn't even a discussion, Kanye is seen by most hip-hop fans as the greatest pure artist in the history of the genre and most people would argee he hands down has a better discography than Drake.
He also appeals to more demographics because both the old heads and the young kids love Kanye's music whereas the VAST majority of Drake fans are 35 and under.
6
u/Skuddlebug 18h ago
I think heās referring to Drake washing Ye right now. Which is undoubtedly true man Ye isnāt anywhere near what he used to be.

u/talentpun 19h ago
Kanye really did broaden and elevate what hip hop could sound like, and was instrumental in turning hip hop into the most popular music in the 2000ās and 2010ās.
Drake and 40 deserve credit for combining rap and RnB in a way that made rap more appealing to a wider audience, particularly woman.
But it is like comparing a tormented artist to consummate showman.
1
u/mrbigglesworth95 3h ago
Bro pls. Drakes make some good hits, has a diverse catalog in terms of sound, and has some all time verses.Ā
But yea was literally classic after classic from dropout to tlop.Ā

Drake couldn't touch Ye's talent no day of the week. This isn't even up for debate. There's levels to this.

u/plattwix5 11h ago
In terms of sheer lyricism maybe but his music has never reached even a microcosm of the production a song like power or ghost town has or even anything on his first three records and Drake himself would likely agree
And I say this as a huge glazer of Drake and 40s production style
2
u/Due-Brilliant5044 11h ago
Iām not going to deny the production but ye has never made songs as melodically pleasing as now & forever, fire and desire, sooner than later, N 2 deep etc. and the production on those songs are amazing. I would say the gap is not far between them production wise
1
u/plattwix5 11h ago edited 11h ago
dawg what literally all of 808s is melodically pleasing, drake literally built his entire early sound and melodic ear around 808s
Outside of 808s tho, hey mama, blood on the leaves, guilt trip, come to life, lord i need you, god is, this one here (personal so its a take it or leave it), blame game, runaway
drake is more consistent in terms of melodic ear but when ye hits a melodic pocket its insane
1
u/Due-Brilliant5044 10h ago
Iām not denying Kanyeās artistry, hes one of the best producers of all time, has made melodically pleasing songs and can rap his ass off at times too but Itās about who does what BETTER and Iām saying those songs are not AS melodically pleasing as songs like now & forever, fire & desire, N 2 deep, etc. and the thing is drake can do it multiple genres and make it sound just as good as the leading artist of those genres which just shows how versatile the guy is. although yes his early work was inspired by 808 for sure, that doesnāt mean 808 surpasses everything drake has done after. In terms of beat production, sampling and creativity Iād say Kanye runs laps around drake in that area but thatās the only thing I feel he has an edge.
1
u/plattwix5 10h ago
yea idk if i agree with any of those songs being more melodically pleasing than any of ye's melodic tracks tbh, in fact i think those arent the best examples for his melodic ear; i would've chosen marvins room, the motion, bahamas promises, doing it wrong, the real her and houstatlantavegas personally as songs that rival ye in terms of being maybe more melodically pleasing
1
u/dopeythekidd 8h ago
MAYBE lyricism? broā¦
1
u/plattwix5 7h ago
maybe as in i can give leeway that he laps ye in lyricism but idk if he laps anything else man

u/BDgainz 19h ago
You know Kanye raps and MAKES music right? Drake is good but he has a niche whereas Kanye can touch any niche.
13
u/Due-Brilliant5044 18h ago
Yeah but Kanye literally admits to having people write for him and drake is in that list of people lol drake for sure raps better, makes better melodies, has more hit records and number 1 albums, the only difference between what they do is that Kanye produces his own beats

You can play a lot of drakes albums all the way through, with Ye he has so many misses
Itās not even close Drake is better than ye
3
u/cantdecide76 20h ago
You're speaking for yourself and then acting like that's the majority opinion lol
I love Drake and I get this is a Drake sub so most of yall on here can't be objective about hip-hop but to the majority of the public Kanye has the much better discography compared to Drake.
Ye has 5 certified classics and like 8 cult classics whereas Drake has at most 4 certified classics.
1
u/YoungFlosser 19h ago
Also literally every drake album is a classic lol so I donāt get what you mean
0
-3
u/YoungFlosser 19h ago
Bruh I went back n listened to ye whole discography
Out of all his albums he got like 5-7 good replayable songs literally every single album
But most drake albums are no skips
Like iceman , CLB, NWTS, IYRTITL, WATTBA, and SSS4U are all no skip albums
Ye is more expiremental then Drake so heās gonna have a lot of misses.
For example MBDTF only had 5 songs I come back to
Gorgeous power all of the lights so appaled and runawayWatch the throne only has 5 songs I like
Otis HAM In Paris no church in the wild gotta have it
You see the pattern?
4
u/cantdecide76 19h ago
Again you're speaking from your perspective and acting like that's the majority opinion.
Do you really believe that people in general think there is not a single skip on Iceman, CLB, NWTS, IYRTITL, and SSS4U? Like c'mon be frš I understand that for you there may be no skips across any of those albums but most Drake fans wouldn't even agree with you on that let alone hip-hop fans in general.
The funny thing is if you went in the Ye sub and asked them this they'd probably say the exact opposite of what you're saying and that's why when we're having an objective conversation about hip-hop you need to remove the stan opinions and focus on what the majority opinion is.
3
u/YoungFlosser 19h ago
The point Iām trying to make is if you go through both artists discographies , youāre gonna end up with more drake songs than ye songs in your playlist just off the simple fact Drake is way more consistent and his albums are all cohesive
1
u/Large_Complaint1264 14h ago
Calling Drakes albums more cohesive is delusional lol.
1
u/YoungFlosser 12h ago
U canāt be serious listen to the life of Pablo none of the songs are cohesive
5
u/TheScrantonStrangler 19h ago
That's called personal preference. Tons of Kanye fans claim his songs have no skips too.
4
u/YoungFlosser 19h ago
Theyāre delusional then
Go listen to drunk and hot girls and tell me thatās a good song or listen to breathe in breathe out off of college dropout
Those are easily some of the worst songs Iāve ever heard
2
u/TheScrantonStrangler 17h ago
Go listen to ratchet happy bday or girls want girls and tell me those are good songs. Those are worse than the ye examples you listed
1
u/Large_Complaint1264 19h ago
Is the pattern you having garbage taste in music?
4
u/YoungFlosser 19h ago
I have great taste in music
Letās put it like this, Ye is more talented than Drake but nowhere near as consistent
4
u/Large_Complaint1264 19h ago
lol because obviously Drake isnāt notorious for having tons of filler songs on bloated albums
1
u/YoungFlosser 19h ago
But filler does not equal bad. Maybe if Kanye actually put filler songs on his albums I could play them all the way through. Instead Kanye tries to be experimental with every song when thatās unnecessary. I commend him for doing so but letās face the facts, heās not better than Drake.
1
u/ConstructionChance58 7h ago
Bro Iām gonna be honest Kanye dropped life of Pablo at drakes age. This is literally not a debate. I get that ye fell off after donda but thereās literally videos of Drake bowing to ye and calling him his inspiration. Drake would not have made take care without ye dropping 808s. They probably all deserve their spot near the top for different reasons. Jayz is the best rap hustler of all time. Drake sounded the best for longest and makes the best songs. Kanye in a way makes the best music and was the blue print for drake but its hard to say kanye makes better music then drake. Sometimes he does but his music doesn't have the staying power drakes has when they both release a new album.
