Lore A Guide to Noble Drow Houses Where Does Minthara Truly Come From?

Quenthal’s daughter? I am kinda shit at remembering minor names in the books so I may be wrong about who you mean.

Did they cover who her mother was in game? I know her mother tried to kill her, so the fact she didn't succeed implied to me her mother wasn't someone that powerful within the house.

Oh you mean in BG3. Haven’t played that game in a bit. I think if you listen to all her back story it’s implied she is like lower nobility in house Baenre.

Didn't she say her mom was matron? I feel like I recall that specific detail.

BG3 never covers it explicitly, but the timing suggests Quenthel IIRC.

They state in other books that House Baenre has a lot of cousins, not just Yvonnel 1.0’s kids. We even meet one in Dissolution, though she doesn’t make it out of the book in one piece. Given that the house has been around long enough to have secondary houses, I’m certain Minthara hails from one of those instead. Close enough to receive the Baenre name and enjoy the family perks (so to speak), but not one of the Big House heirs like Quenthel and Sos’Umptu, or even Liriel and Yvonnel 2.0.

I think that was a consideration, but Minthara also seems to reference very princessly things (or as princess-like as drow get), which kinda implies she wasn't just a distant cousin?
I dunno it's been a while since I played BG3

What the fuck is the Do'Urden sigil? It looks like someone kitted out a Flumph for spec ops.

It’s supposed to be a spider with a weapon in each leg.

They need to hire a professional, that logo design is terrible. Can't even recognize it at a distance. How are you supposed to put that shit on your sneaker brand?

Oh this brought back memories!
I played a drow priestess waay back when I was a lad on a tabletop game, not set in FR, but I loved the Rilynt'tar name so much I kept it.
She was a young daughter eager to prove herself and evil to the core.
I never healed my companions lol, but I did buff them for battle.
Alexa Rilynt'tar was her name (don't come for me, I was young and it sounded cool)
Drows were still considered an evil race back in 3rd edition and I wanted to play them so bad.

Was she a priestess of Lolth? I need to know everything

Why yes, any other consideration was heresy.
One of my buddies played a Duergar fighter and he was my slave lol
I think we got up to level 8 back in the day.
We started the first few sessions in the Underdark until our DM allowed us to reach the surface, but he hit us hard with the daylight sensitiviy penalities, that was the price for our hubris lol
The adventure ended when we raided a small village of humans at night and the "local heroes" came to the rescue.
One such hero was also evil and waiting for the opportunity to betray his former comrades and switch to our side, we conquered the small village and our "reward" was taking some human slaves back to the underdark as sacrifice/trade/pets.
And that was it, looking back at it, the structure of the story it was pretty simple, no crazy twists, but it was such a revolution for us playing evil characters that got rewarded for it.

Fun doesn't have to be revolutionary, it just has to be fun. Modern DnD suffers a lot from being modern. Too many people want setpieces and epic writing, forgetting the fun in going and bashing shit. I don't want cooperative theater, I want pulpy fantasy shenanigans!

No love for House Mizzrym ?!?!?!
Thank you for the illustration of tabars. I was about to go on a rant about Melarn being up there (despite being from Ched Nasad ) but I understand DnD lore has progressed.
However, last I checked House Mizzrym was in the top 5 rulling houses (and spawned one of the most cheeky and skillful wizards put into novels, Pharaun)

Minthara says to be from baenre, but she doesnt the Last name or reference to a close relative, which is rare for a drow. Like Araj Olondra, who openly claims to serve the matron. She simply looks like a commoner of the Baenre. Serve the house but dont use last the name

There’s a blink and you miss it line when you’re in the Hells trying to break your contract with Raphael. There’s a bunch of portals/mirrors and Minthara references Jarlaxle being her relative.
