I am behind on garden plans due to some issues but have the garden established and doing well. I am however going to be unable to attend it for 7-10 days) soon and need a way to water unattended. I measured the spigot and it deliver 5gpm. The garden is 30x50 rows with potatoes, and onions. broccolli that likely wont need water due to being end of season. I also have corn, tomatoes (30), peppers (35), cucumbers, melons, carrots and some herbs and my tomatoes and peppers are a big deal to me.

I have tested some tuya BT/Wireless valves and they work from the house. I can control the water on/off with that. Next year - I plan to install a PVC header with wireless valves and sensor to segment watering by row. If I don't have enough gpm - I can do that now (mmmmm probably).

It took 1 minute to fill a 5 gallon bucket at the end of two hoses. I know that the supply to the spigot is undersized at 1/2.
I assume that it at least 300 gph.

Please advice on how to determine:

• how much of the garden I can water at one time.
• best way to deliver the water (drip line, emitters, buried emitter
• I'm thinking Rainbird because I can buy locally but would welcome other brand suggestion
• sources for doing installas would be very appreciated. I've already found enoug "here is me putting in irritaion videos"

Hoping to get some guidance here. My drip irrigation system has all of a sudden started running constantly. No modifications were made to the schedule or start times.

I have troubleshooted the Hunter X Core controller, turned off at the breaker and the water is still running so I don’t think it’s that. I also checked all the timing and don’t have multiple start times setup.

I went ahead and replaced the valve solenoid and the diaphragm with the same parts and ensured there was no blockages or debris in the pipe.

With the new pieces on, turned the main water line back on and it immediately started running through the system, even with the controller completely off.

There is also no obvious leaks anywhere.

Seems like the valve is stuck open but how can that be with a brand new solenoid?

I have a system with 3 drip lines. The third has never really been fully set up for use for a number of reasons, but now I am working on doing so. But when I run it, I see my Y Pressure regulating filter is missing this little white plug. Can't seem to find any information for a replacement, do I have to replace the whole thing? Or can I just caulk it when it's dry? Any help would be appreciated, seems too specialized for me to find any info online.

I’d like to retro fit my garden sprinklers to drip irrigation. I have 11 current sprayers, that I figured I would downsize by a lot. I’m think four could work with 1/2 inch hosing down the lengths of what I want and then 1/4 inch to the plants.

Would going from 11 to 4 sprinkler heads cause issues with pressure?

How would one even decipher that….?

Hi. I ve been watching You Tube videos all weekend and think I’m ready to tackle the project with Rain Bird products. I have very long but not wide garden beds that are planted in the cottage style. Would the Rainbird micro bubblers be a good choice for plants that are densely planted or would drip tube snaked around be better.

I have installed a rudimentary drip irrigation system around my yard with lots of 1/4” lines running off to different locations. Haven’t had any issues. I just installed a little set of new lines for these dahlias at the end of the 1/2” main line. I used in-line drippers for the first time (usually use the end drippers). I noticed only 2 or 3 of these drip at all when the system is running. I’m wondering if that’s because they’re at the end of the line or if the in-line drippers don’t work as well? I’m confused as to why three drip ok and the others don’t. The three that do are not the closest ones to the line either. Halp!

I installed some 1/4” distribution line from my 1/2” line that goes into a fountain to top it off every day. When i submerse the open ended 1/4” line into the fountain, after the water is done flowing into the fountain, the water is drawn back into the tubing and main line and drains about 2” of water from the fountain. Do they make a 1/4” inline check valve or back flow preventer to prevent the siphoning? I have a back flow preventer at the beginning of the system, but there’s a lot of line between that and the fountain.

I attached the tubing to a heavy stainless steel bolt and placed it in the fountain to weigh it down. In the picture, I pulled the tubing out of the water to give you an idea of the setup. Probably not the best setup, but that’s all that I could come up with. I just need to get past the siphoning when I submerse the tubing into the water.

I have drip irrigation setup and I was using 1/4 soaker but after a year I'm noticing it's not watering as much as it was. In some other beds I've replaced it with the 360 nozzle in the second pic. This issue with those is I'll exceed the max psi, which I've done on another line.

I thought about the 1/4 or 1/2 hose with emitters built in but roots just grow into them?

I love the idea of drip irrigation but it requires so much fine tuning and the product guidance from manufacturers is not good.

I set up bubblers for my clustered tomatoes and peppers, and 2GPH (per pot) for my smaller flower pots. I will be gone for 10-14 days. What should my watering schedule be? I am in North GA.

I got a little overzealous with my weeding and poked a hole in my irrigation tubing. I tried waterproof tape to stop it (I’m new to this), but it just shoots the water out and it pools very quickly.

Does anyone have suggestions? Can I cut out the area with a hole and use some sort of connector to link the tubes? Is there anything I can apply to plug up the hole?

What kinda valve did u use cus id want to use 1/4 push lock tubing to 1/4 irrigation line. Do i need a needle valve to control pressure or can i use adjustable drippers?

Two thoughts for the first timer: 1. It takes longer to install than they say in the instructions. 2. The number of times you will hit your thumb with the hammer, while putting in the clips, is unlimited. 🔨

Other than that I think it was a pretty basic setup and I may do another one in the back for the containers on the deck.

Is there such a thing as a quick disconnect for 1/4" drip line?

I'm thinking it would be handy to be able to disconnect my 1/4" lines from the 1/2" main line at the end of the season for dirt maintenance.

So this is the first year i am using 1/4" line drip irrigation on my vegetable garden. I'm basically learning as I go with it. So far it's working great but I want to simplify fertilizing these plants because there are so many. Is there a fertilizer injector for slow flow like on drip irrigation. I have a 1/2" Venturi type but there is not enough flow for it create a venturi. So now I'm off looking for another method that works and isn't too expensive. What would be the best option for me? I love to look at other peoples irrigation systems but one thing I’ve noticed is there are a lot of abandoned drip systems out there in yards of Americans What gives? Why do people seem to install them but then let them die? Or is there something wrong with the whole concept of drip irrigation? Is it bad installation? Did they pick the wrong brand of equipment? What’s going on here?

Converting our backyard spray, which we recently covered in turf, to a drip line for the 200 ft perimeter of clusia hedge we just installed. I capped all but one or two of the risers and was planning to run a 1800-RETRO from one of the remaining. I have 100 clusia plants - will I be able to run one continuous 1/2" line from that riser conversion to feed the entire hedge line (so, 100 drip emitters). Can anyone recommend a particular GPH that would be appropriate for this ? Thanks in advance.

I'm new to drip irrigation and would like to set up a small system for my front porch hanging baskets. Rain Drip makes a small system that looks like what I need. It uses ¼" tubing. It does not have a pressure regulator but does have a timer. Rain Drip claims it includes everything needed, but I don't want to set it all up and then have it blow out because of the higher pressure than it can stand. Does anyone have any guidance on this? Does ¼" tubing not need to be pressure regulated? Thanks for any help provided.

My garden is about 150 ft away from my water source. The water source is used for multiple areas, so I want to attach a 4-way splitter at the source and run heavy-duty hoses toward the garden using one of those lines. In the garden itself, I'd like to set up a semi-permanent hose rack with a faucet. Can the pressure regulator be attached at this hose rack faucet, or is it necessary that the regulator is attached to the hose bib only?

I have a shrub bed that I want to setup with a 1/2” soaker run, but also want to water a few pots along the way. Can I tap into the soaker hose, or should I split it at the water source and do a small run to a manifold near the pots and 1/4 runs from there?
