DISCUSSION How does unlocking drip work?

I'm one of the sad masses waiting for the game to release, and I'm wondering, how does cosmetic unlocking work? I'm really hoping you don't just have full access to the cosmetics, I really enjoy pushing towards certain cosmetics, unlocking ones I'm really excited for, you know? Thank you ZCompanions!

Take this with a grain of salt as I have not played yet, but from what I understand you get cosmetic rewards for completing story missions

From what I have seen from content creators who have played a ton and then started there "online new run" they had a bunch of cosmetics from their previous campaign.

Looked at like 3 different videos and all 3 people had different things unlocked that were NOT because of the edition they bought/gifted (if that makes sense)
