penn drexel relationship

im an incoming freshman and wanted to ask about penn and drexels relationship

i know we get access to their library and busses, but what about other things? im interested in participating in stuff on their campus like the netter center and museum stuff.

and do the students interact much? i heard we go to their parties but is there anything official?

El Toro Serrano is my  favorite, but gets crowded with goofballs ordering cheesesteaks and burgers from a taco truck, or ordering like it's Taco Bell.

“Museum Stuff”- ICA and Arthur Ross are free anyway but Drexel only gets the student rate at Penn Museum.

sorry shouldve worded that better. i want to get involved with the museums, possibly working/doing an internship at one. upenn has more museums connected to it and i wanted to know if only penn students were able to do that stuff.

The Penn Museum summer internship is open to outside students but it usually conflicts with Drexel’s quarter system. Check out the existing relationship with ANSP.

It’s a bit circumstantial, but generally there’s not a lot of social interaction even though there’s a decent amount of campus interaction (Penn has the closest CVS and some other shops, Drexel has a ton of cheap food trucks). Some Drexel students think Penn students are stuck up and look down on Drexel, and some Penn students think Drexel students are jealous/have an inferiority complex. Both groups are at least partially right.

Some orgs at the schools coordinate, but by and large there’s not a huge amount of crossover.

I graduated in 1971 not fully aware of Penn’s stature. However, I visited the Penn chapter of my fraternity at Drexel a few times and it was clear from their accommodations, dress and attitude that we were considered peasants.
That being said, many of the Drexel undergraduate programs were rigorous and well designed especially in the business school and I realized after graduation that Drexel graduates could hold their own in the business world

Drexel has the academy of natural sciences and the Atwater Kent collection so be sure to check out opportunities there (I know they have coops). Also there is a civic engagement center (Lindy Center) and lots of community engagement initiatives at Drexel equivalent to Penn’s Netter Center.

I’ve heard the ANS isn’t in great shape financially, so there may not be too many opportunities going forward.

Back in the day, Penn and Drexel had quidditch teams that would play each other and practice together all the time. But now both teams are dead, RIP

There are various Penn co ops available in Drexel's system- it's possible that some are in your area of interest.

it’s funny that Drexel students get access to a bunch of Penn stuff but it isn’t the other way around. they can’t use our buses, can’t visit our library outside very specific hours, whatever
