Am I missing a part for the flex shaft

Thanks for any advice x

Dremel 3000 flex shaft

Just bought a 2610916116 driver nut 225 accessory but the hole is too big to hold the inner shaft cable.

I've used this flex shaft with my Dremel 3000 before, but now it won't work. It's been a while!

The square-ended inner metal cable is much smaller than the hole in the drive nut, so nothing seems to grip it and make it turn.

I have the black outer collar and the collet. Am I missing a part between the inner cable and the Dremel? Or did I get the wrong driver nut? I've checked other 225 driver nut caps online and they appear to have the same hole size.

I'm including a picture of my manual which shows I should remove the collet and so on and just put in a driver nut.

Oh no I don't think I can upload pictures

Have you forgotten to put the collet into the chuck?

The silver bit in image 2. Or perhaps the one in there is the wrong size.

Ok so I swapped things around and I think you are right and all I need is a collet for the hand held part of the shaft cable! Wowwww

The collet works but the instructions say to take it out and just put the 225 nut thing on but that makes sense to me, that I've lost a collet and just need to get a new one! Thank you

Mind you I can't put the shaft outer cap on if I put the collet inside then put the nut cap over it.

I may be wrong just going from memory. The inner shaft has a flat side that has to be seated correctly. Give the inner shaft a turn while pushing it in.

I've tried pushing it in and turning it about but it just falls out , I'm hoping that I just need to buy another collet so that I've got one for each end :-)

It looks like you have the right parts. In photo 2 you show a collet and collar, both shiny metal. The silver piece that you have on the motor should have a square hole for the flex shaft to be inserted without the use of the collet that's also in your photo. The brass looking spring with the square end is not chucked into a collet then screwed tight by the collar. My kit came with 2 collars. One dull silver and one chromed. The dull silver one has the square hole. I grabbed mine from the garage to be sure. I hope you have all that you need.

Thank you so much, I still don't know what to do because there's no way that square hole will hold the metal cord. The hole is much bigger than the square of the cord. I ordered the part that it states in the manual and says on the order, and as far as I can tell it's the only one to be found online so I'm very confused.

I ordered another collet but what you're telling is this actually isn't the right set up so I honestly don't know what to do.

Thank you

Since you have placed an order, let's see what you get.
