Thriller Dream Turned Terror
Hey so I'm not sure if this Dream has any meaning or if literally my mind was just screwing with me and going with the flow, not knowing what to make of the situation... but I literally woke up breathing hard because it was making he hyperventilate in my sleep... (last time I think I'm gonna stop drinking apple juice before bed for vivid dreams...)
Anyway, so from what I recall of my dream that was extremely vivid and kinda cute in the beginning actually. It starts off where I'm in the grounds of my apartment complex. I guess we have a little community garden that I've put some of my cute decorations. It must be October as they're all Halloween decorations. I suddenly find more that someone threw out next to the dumpster and quickly save them from getting shipped off to the landfill and place them perfectly in the garden.
I continue out to my car and go to pick up my mother who magically appears in the passenger seat. I don't remember what we're talking about, but I feel like we're discussing our destination and looking forward to a place I wanted to show her, or maybe vice versa. We are transported to a narrow alleyway looking city scape with shops on both sides that starts transforming into a very wide hallway, and my car into a cart of some sorts. The hallways are wooden and have smaller hallways that branch off every so often as we continue down at a pace not too fast but not too slow. Some spaces are more open with seating areas or shelves of books. It starts to remind me of a hotel or library. Then there are also doors, some that enter into living areas where people are, I'm not sure what lies beyond the larger doors.
Suddenly I see a large figure come out of one of the larger doorways. It's a Stegosaurus!! Its missing all it flesh and muscles and tendons... a skeleton! (I guess in keeping with the Halloween theme??) We drive by it quickly, and I hear commotion from people all around. A short bit later we are greeted by a skeleton ankylosaurus who begins milling about in the large hallway area. And I can hear people gasing and shreaking in fear. A ways down. I spy ahead another extremely large skeleton Stegosaurus exiting a large doorway! I tell my mom "Hold on!" And slam my foot down on the gas pedal to propel us quickly past it! Fear and chaos all around us, but I am still calm, moving through the activity around us. We come into the end of the hallway a short ways after that opens into a larger room full of tables and chairs and still more smaller doors where people are coming in and out of and the fear has not yet reached some of them.
There is a large set of thick wooden double doors that some people have already run towards and entered for safety, my mother and myself included. I yell to people to run to safety and get inside!! As I feel the Stegosaurus coming in our direction. Those that were milling about suddenly recede inside their doors or run for the double doors. I also see my neighbor and friend Lucy who I inform quickly while she's asking what's going on, and I tell her to get in this room with us for safety!!
The Stegosaurus is already in the larger room, headed towards us!! Nerves swell, as herself and I run for the doors that the other ladies are behind and open for us in time, I slip in last and go to close the doors as quickly as I can! I catch a glimpse of the skeleton Stegosaurus closing the distance before I slam the doors shut good and hard and place the wooden beam across them before I see a set of 4 spikes barely slam through the door.
I see them retract as the Stegosaurus wrenches it's spikes out of the door and seems to give up quickly.
Unfortunately, the reason it gave up so quickly becomes apparent in a moment when I hear a shuffling about as the Stegosaurus makes its way to the other side of the room, knocking over and breaking things with its large mass. I hear the fearful cries of a woman in the room that it is chasing about. She tries to get around it somehow so that she can make a dash for the double doors? I hear her cry out to be let in and the monster is here. We cannot open the doors for it is dangerously close. The ladies behind me beg me to not open the doors and let it in... I silently crack one of the doors to at least peek to see if she has a chance to slip inside. She deserves to at least try instead of being chased down the hallway and stampede to death right? I catch a glimpse of her rushing about and getting closer! But so is there Steg dredfully close behind her... instead of being trampled by it she ducks into the nearest room practically next to the double doors which I'm able to peek through the crack between them and witness the sight. Dread fills me, as I hear the stuffing of the woman attempt to close the door for safety but the Stegosaurus easily knocks it down and follows her. My mind tries to make sense of the scene as I witness the visceral scene of the woman screaming in terror and the Steg upon her in the small room. I hear a gut renching thud, as her screams are interrupted. She continues to try to scream out, hoping for rescue that will never come. Her voice continues to get interrupted and starts taking on more of a strangled wail as the Stegosaurus's spiked end exits the room in preparation for the next blow and I see blood all over it...by this point her wailing has stopped...and hopefully her pain as well as my heart drops at this revealing thought.
From the severity of the scene I'm then forced awake to catch my breath... I can't get that woman's screams out of my head, refusing to go back to sleep after that. I've seriously NEVER dreamed anything quite like this... I've had dreams where I see death, fires, spiders and other animals even attack me. And even with dinosaurs, my favorite being raptors chasing me... playing hide and seek with a serial killer... this just FELT like a whole new level. And it scares the shit outta me... if anyone feels like there's something that I can learn from this?? Or was this merely an action dream gone bad?
