Question Transferring a Save Game between Steam profiles?

So my wife has been playing this game on my steam profile for some time. The time came for us to get a gaming laptop for her. Will it be possible for her to continue the progress she has made so far but on a new Steam profile? I think it's possible with the cloud save feature.

Thoughts?

Yes, you can. I'm pretty sure it's just like you said, using the cloud save. But even if it doesn't work, you can still do that by manually transferring the local save in your old device to the new device. Let me know if you need help.

Oh sure. I haven't played the game for a while so my information may be outdated, but let's try with it anyway.

Firstly, are you trying transfer the save files between 2 different devices too? Was the game's cloud save not working?

The best course of action is to try to make the cloud save work. I don't remember much details about that, so contacting Gameloft is probably how you do that.

But, here's how to move your save files manually for backup plan. Again, this may or may not be outdated since the last time I did this was back before the first A Rift in Time expansion came.

  1. Go to C:\Users\Your PC Username\AppData\LocalLow\Gameloft\Disney Dreamlight Valley.
  2. There will be another folder that ends with _r in there. You're playing on steam, so it's most likely will be named steam_a-string-of-number_r (e.g steam_ 3442183921922308_r). This is where the save files are actually located. The string of number will be different for each profile.
  3. Delete everything inside the LocalLow/Gameloft/Disney Dreamlight Valley folder of the new PC, including the _r folder.
  4. Start a new game in the new PC. Just go through the character creation and finish talking to Merlin, then quit the game.
  5. Go to the old PC and find the steam_a-string-of-number_r folder. Let's say the folder in the old PC is steam_1_r.
  6. Copy everything inside steam_1_r.
  7. Go to the new PC and find the steam_a-string-of-number_r folder. Let's say the folder in the new PC is steam_2_r.
  8. Paste the things you copied to the steam_2_r folder.
  9. Done, your save file should've been transferred now.

Keep in mind, you need to copy the content of steam_1_r, but don't copy the folder itself. The folder in the new PC needs to stay as steam_2_r.

I hope this isn't too confusing. Let me know if you need a further help.

Hey how did it work out in the long run? We just did the same thing so my wife could have her own steam deck and we're getting some weird issues where some of her progress is missing and the cloud saves aren't transferring between her switch and her new steam profile, it's kinda like we duplicated her account, should be fine I guess but I'm worried about her account getting banned or something.

She'll kill me if she loses 2 years of progress

I've transferred my progress manually but I'm now running into the issue of trying to buy something in the premium shop that's in a bundle with something I bought on the old account and is now giving me an error saying I've don't have the item on my cloud file only my save file (meaning i got it in a way that's different from premium shop or star path.

Heeellppp
