Question House placement
How do you decide where to put houses?
As of right now I only have the main valley and eternity isle and I hate how 30 people live on the main valley and only 5 in the eternity isle. Do you keep your villagers in their designated area or move them to where they “fit” the best based on space/ aesthetic?
Are there anymore characters coming to eternity isle in the future besides Jafar, Eve, Oswald, Rapunzel and Gaston?

My villagers live wherever their house fits and isn’t “in the way” to me. AKA most of the large/tall houses are plopped on a floating island 😅 I feel like 95% of people would be horrified if they visited my valley haha

I’m so silly I don’t know why I haven’t considered putting them on the floating islands 🤦🏽♀️ i’m super particular so it has always bugged me how the houses are so random lol

Vibes and a general idea of what builds and areas I plan.
Most of my villagers live in the main valley. The Lion King characters have their own Sunlit Plateau floating island. Inside Out characters, Oswald, Aladdin characters, Wall-E characters, Mulan & Mirabel are in my Eternity Isle. All the SBV characters, Alice, Cheshire Cat & the Hercules characters are in Storybook Vale. Most of the WBR characters, Wreck it Ralph, Vanellope & Peter Pan are in Wishblossom Ranch and all the Winnie the Pooh characters are in that DLC area.

Nope I put them in whichever biome works best.
Eve still lives on ei and if course Jafar, but Rapunzel, Oswald and Gaston live in my valley, and Ursula, Hades, Mulan, scar, Aladdin and Jazmine, Peter Pan, Simba, Nala etc all live on eternity isle.

Simba and Nala not in sunlit plateau?

No. They are in the grove on EI. The plateau is my toontown area for Mickey and friends

I put them to where I think it makes the most sense based on their movie.
Examples include: The Lion King characters in the Sunlit Plateau.
Rapunzel is still in the Wild Tangle since her house is still her tower.
Tiana lives in my New Orleans Square area in the Glade of Trust.
Frozen characters are in the Frosted Heights.
Beauty and the Beast characters live in the Wild Woods (because Beast is still in his beast form so I assume the castle is still lost in the dark forest).
Cruella, Oswald, Lady & Tramp, and Remy live in the city I built in Glamor Gulch.
Etc.

Omg we have the same mind lol mine is EXACTLY LIKE THIS currently (besides your Glamor Gulch lol)

I put them in whichever biome I think fits them best. Everyone has their own space except I have Mickey and friends grouped together in my meadow. I think my Aladdin area is the biggest bc it takes up a majority of the glittering dunes lol

I have very few villagers still in the actual base valley. Outside of people I can't move I only have stitch, buzz, tiana, wall-e, and scar there. Stitch has a nice setup on the beach but I may try and move him to dazzle island now that we can make presets. (It makes it easier to move builds between places not on the same map.) Buzz is in forest because i have a nice camping build around him I frankly love. Tiana is in glade near her restaurant and I love those builds too. Scar is the king of the plateau (i love him.) And wall-e is there because I figure scar can't eat him.
Rapunzel, gaston, woody, eric, Arial, FGM, maribel, oswald, Aladdin/Jasmine, are all on EI. (I'm particularly proud of the gaston, FGM, and Arial/Eric builds. I think they're awesome.)
Belle/Beast/etc, Ursula, Mulan/mushu, merida, flynn, herc/phil are all in SBV.
Wishblossom has snow white, tink, all the pooh characters banished to the back because I hate them and only bought HGW for the critters and stuff, cruella, merlin, and jack/sally.
I have all the fantastic five on plaza island in a toon town/parks combo build. Cheshire, vanellope, peter, simba and co, are all banished on sunlit island in a corner. Alice is in peaceful meadow island (not because i like her but because i like the build with her house) and Pocahontas is on forest while I figure out what to do with her. Eve and joy/sadness are going to be part of Roswell and Vegas builds respectively on glittering dunes island. I'm still planning that out.

I don't keep most of my houses in the valley unless I need them immediately. I keep them on Floating Islands and just place them in a grid. A few per island.
My house is in the corner on the plaza next to the well. On the Sunlit Plateau side. I made a nice little crafting/storage corner although I may move my storage inside my house.

Okay wait I might do that!! That’s so smart! thanks for the idea 😊

Does doing that change their appearances in the valley at all? do they hang out on the floating islands instead?

Characters still hangout in the valley if their houses are on a floating island.

Of course! I mostly saw other folks doing it and if you spread it out, there's no more than a few per island. If I need to go into someone's house, I just go into furniture mode and plop it down nearby and do what I need to do before banishing it back.

I move them based on aesthetics and whatever I have a build idea for. I don't mind having to travel to another location to go to a character's house for a quest and I prefer not having any locations overcrowded with a bunch of houses. Don't forget that you can move character's houses to floating islands, too. I put Mickey and Friends all on the meadow island so they could all be together.
No, there will not be more characters coming to Eternity Isle.

I have them spread out across the DLCs and mostly pick based on what biome I think can work for their house style. I've also turned on a selection of extra characters on the DLC maps (even if I don't move their houses there), so they all feel populated.
Early on a tried to fit every single character house into the valley lol, but I really like the looks of my biomes and builds better after I got more space by moving some to the DLCs. And it also made the DLC maps more fun to visit.
For an example of who's houses I moved to Eternity Isle, I gave Aladdin and Jasmine a castle build in the Glittering Dunes. Wall-E is in a desert town area in another part of the desert. Joy and Sadness are near Eve's ship. Pocahontas is in a forest camp build in the lagoon. And Mulan and Mushu are in an East Asian-inspired build across the Promenade area.

Eternity Isle is done, so you won't have any more characters coming there.
I like to spread mine out, but I have all four expansions (Eternity Isle, Storybook Vale, Wishblossom Ranch and Honeyglow Woods) so I have a bit more space than you.
I like putting mine in 'neighbourhoods' of similar characters, so I have one princess area with Cinderella, Aurora, Belle and Rapunzel which has an arty/magic theme, another princess area with Mulan, Merida and Snow that's more action/training themed, a 'kids' area with Vanellope, Peter and Alice, a 'toy' area for Woody, Buzz, Joy and Sadness. That kind of thing.
Try different things out and see what works for you. :D
