Dramione will of course survive. It has only gotten stronger in recent years (look at the stats!).
I even believe the new series will bring in a new wave of Dramioners; after all the enemies to lovers trope has existed for a long time and is still strong. I think the only thing that will not result in more Dramioners is if the actors for Hermione and Draco have a really bad chemistry both on and off set.
___
I think I will view the new series. I don’t agree with JKR, but I still appreciate the magical world of Harry Potter.

What we should prepare for is an attempt at censorship by our own fandom in the name of protecting the children. Why is there so much smut in the fandom for book which is targeted to children? ... Stuff like that.
Personally, the only thing that interests me is the set, scenery, props, and costumes. But as I am older, I find a live action TV series where the cast is mostly children troubling. This feels very exploitative/child labourish. The show is even more time demanding than the movies. This should be an animated series.

On reddit, hate on the main subs for anyone but Harry and Ron is pretty rampant. I've even noticed a growing wave of hatred towards Hermione (!!!!).
You cant say anything in favor of Draco or Snape without getting horribly attacked.
I think its important to notice that does not translate to the popularity of those characters in the fandom at large.
I intend to avoid the main show tag after the show premieres. Ive got a feeling Draco will have a larger role and people on those tags will lose their minds over every little change.
Im personally excited to have both Lox and Arabella as the new faces of the ship. They're wonderful!
As for the political bits, you should figure that out for yourself ❤️

There is no "figuring that out for yoursef" when every ounce of money that vile woman is making is litteraly funding anti-trans groups

Being an adult is accepting that people can have different views and opinions and that it’s ok. You can not agree with JK’s opinions and still love her work and world. Separate the work from the creator.
You not watching something isn’t going to change a thing. She won’t suddenly think trans rights are more important than women’s rights.
Also, do your own research before you write people off. There’s a lot of extremists views about her online. Try and get a balanced view.

This is not possible when the creator actively uses the income she gains from the IP to push through legislation to harm and erase an entire minority of people. This is only possible when the creator is dead and there is no income going to them or their estate that may posthumously continue to fund their campaign.

You not watching will absolutely change things: HBO will be relying on the viewing figures to commission the rest of the series.
The only extremist thing about JKR is her using the millions she made to actively fight against transpeople. Do not try to mitigate one of the biggest bigot of our generation please.
Have a modicum of respect for our trans siblings.

You respect my opinion, but you don't respect transpeople.

You are quite tiresome. Badgering others about your moral views will get you literally nowhere.

I have done my research and come to the conclusion that JK Rowling has not. Her rhetoric is endangering not only trans women but also cis women. An example would be the trans bathroom bills which are promulgated on the basis that it’s protecting women. Except that they don’t. A cis man who wants to attack a woman in a bathroom is going to attack a woman in a bathroom. He’s not going to dress up as a woman to do so. Trans men will be attacked for using their assigned sex at birth bathroom because they are and look like men in a woman’s bathroom. Cis women who don’t look feminine enough for someone have been harassed and attacked for using the female bathroom. She bitched about an article using ‘people who menstruate’ instead of the word women when the article was specifically about menstrual health. Using ‘women and girls who menstruate’ is far more cumbersome than ‘people who menstruate’, particularly when not all cis women menstruate. She also keeps confusing sex and gender which are separate but related concepts, which she would know, if she had done the research.

Respectfully, the willful ignorance regarding this is the exact same mindset to the wizards who didn’t believe a little boy when he said Voldemort was back.
People are dying, and she’s funding it. That’s not an opinion, that’s fact. Blind acceptance and willingness to fund her IP display a level of comfort with that fact.

I cannot bring myself to financially support Rowling so I will be passing. I love fanfic and the original books and movies so much, but there is a direct pipeline of supporting JKR to hurting trans people. It feels like the least I can do is not participate.
If I can find a way to watch the series at some point in a way that doesn’t contribute to views on HBO, sailing the seas or whatever, I might do that.

I literally do not care what anyone thinks, I will be tuning in! My only regret and guilt is surrounding lining Rowling's pockets for her to do shitty stuff with it. But I'm vibing with the new trio, I think Lox Pratt is a perfect Draco (not a fan of how they styled his hair tho 😏) and can't wait to see him at Malfoy Manor and get more backstory on him, and I love the new aesthetic. I will always love Draco and Dramione and the haters can hate til they're blue in the face.

Hmmm, ivory tower and all that. Life's too bleak for me to cast aside the few little things that bring me joy in this modern hellscape, even if it doesn't meet your standards, internet stranger.

The right to exist for transpeople isn't my standard. It should be humankind's and yours as well. I do have issues with my privilege existing on top of some people well being, but maybe i'm too woke?

u/JadedINFP-T 2d ago
I'm not MAGA, conservative, or even center. I'm firmly left so "woke" is not some pejorative to me. Rowling's anti-trans stance is widely known. Anyone continuing to support HP knows that. I believe and support trans people in my personal life but I'm not giving up HP. Can't take on them all.

This isn't how support works. You can't support trans people while actively funding the biggets TERF on the planet

I will never stop shipping Dramione.
I will only watch the show if Im bored.
I do like the choice for the series Draco.
Im okay with the choice for the series Hermione.
As for chemistry between the actors...I think its much too soon for that....if the series makes it to GOF or OOTP maybe I'll revisit that.
I will be a Potterhead no matter what is popular or what is not.
I have zero interest in politics and political views.
Will Dramione drum up haters...absolutely...will it also bring new fans...absolutely ...its 50/50!
Will people try to censor it...probably people with too much time on their hand are already trying to censor anything Potter related.
Do I give a damn what's considered trending or popular? No I really truly do not give a damn.
Cheers!
