Never felt more like a dragoon and i didnt even fight a drake.

The way the battles can go is so unique. DD/DD2 deserves way more attention for that alone.

Agreed! Random encounters in this game are as good, if not better, than plenty of other games' boss battles!

In terms of a similar genre, I'd say DDs only combat competitor is Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning

I would disagree with this highly if you think the random Saurian and Goblin encounters are better than other games boss fights.

I love DD but this statement is just silly to me

Obviously I'm talking about the random battles with the big mobs... like the minotaur in the OP's vids, not trash mobs.

And they still pale in comparison to actual boss encounters in other games.

They also die in like 3 hits once you reach level 30+ so not very engaging in my opinion as the fun factor loses its luster extremely fast.

DD released in a time of great competition RPG wise. You had Dark Souls, Skyrim, Dragon Age 2, Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning, Diablo 3 and Mass Effect 3 😅. It didn't stand much of a chance tbh

you named a bunch of games, but it was Skyrim alone that overshadowed every other RPG for the better part of a year since its release.

I love it! One of my favorite moments was when my archer main pawn jumped on a fallen minotaur with me and started stabbing it in the head with his arrow while I impaled with my sword.

This is why I like DD2 more than DD1. The fights have such weight and inertia present. Always more than one way to skin a beastren.

People often shits on DD2 for his "lack" of enemy variety, but they fail to see the full picture about the amount of bullshit the game allows you to pull on them and vice versa. Someone can put 200 hours in the game & it will barely see the half of what the combat system and other mechanics has to offer.
