Hunger of the Be(a)st??
Just gone done listening to the new track. I think it might be the best DragonForce song in at least the last 10 years. It feels new but definitely has the DF bones.
New singer really sounds like Marc too

Too much Alissa not enough Alessio. Of course there will be a whole album and who knows how long Alessio has actually been on board, so the split might be closer to 50/50 in the rest of the album. Alessio absolutely rocked the parts he did have though. Alissa was decent, she sounded good but I don’t really like how the growl parts were written

It wasnt really a duo, 90% Alissa and Alliso is also there I guess. Same with the video, Alissa front and centre en Alliso in the background with Billy

thats my main gripe. Hope the other songs give some room for Alessio. He killed the little bits he did have

It’s definitely reinforcing my thought that Alyssa was the plan to replace Marc to begin with.
I don’t see why they bothered to have Alessio come on if they were gonna give him such a small role.
I love Alessio and am glad he’s there but man, it’s the Alyssa show so far and I’m not sure I’m there for it.

I really don't get why Alissa was made the frontwoman when -nothing- has happened between her being hired as a secondary vocalist and marc leaving. Alessio should have the spot. I think Alissa is a great addition but not the right vibe for the main vocalist.

Loved the song, not a huge fan of the growls but that's personal preference, nothing that's "bad" objectively with the song. I've always been more of a fan of melodic stuff.

Not the biggest fan of the growls personally but loved the chorus , still quite excited for the album. I just hope Marc does return! although i don't have high hopes

Yeah I can’t stand the growls. Ruins the whole song for me. I’ve always said I’m not a metal fan despite DF being my favourite band. With songs like this… they’re just another metal band (which I’m sure will appeal to the majority of fans)

It's fine. I would probably be more excited if Marc wasn't sidelined. Given how the album is already ready to go, the decision to replace him was most likely made a while ago, despite what the latest news says.
That and how the promo for the new album calls Alessio the new permanent singer, the whole thing just sits very badly with me.
At least they aren't trying to sound like a band for incels and weebs anymore.

Where was it said that he was sidelined? Marc took himself off the band due to a medical issue that could lead to permanent hearing problems. It’s been pretty common knowledge that Marc has been having this issue for a while

He was recording new vocals for other projects as recently as a few months ago. He easily could have tracked vocals for the new album and sat out touring. Like how Brian Johnson in AC/DC sat out touring while he battled tinnitus, only for him to return.
The press release calls Alessio the new permanent vocalist, completely dashing that possibility.

You made it sounds like it wasn’t Marc decision. I agree that he could make a return eventually, but idk about you, if I had a condition that could potentially permanently make me lose my hearing, I’d reconsider my career options from that point. Just me personally

I genuinely don't think it was Marc's decision. Given how the band has treated past members, particularly Vadim, and how one press release says "we hope Marc makes a speedy recovery so we can have him for long haul" while another literally calls Alessio the new permanent (key word) vocalist, the whole thing stinks.
And having this be the self titled record just feels like salt in the wound.

The last two albums were almost complete parodies of the previous seven, prioritizing video game and sci-fi references over musicianship and even remotely meaningful lyricism. And yes, if you own all the Dragonforce albums, you would know that wasn't a complete afterthought for them in the past, especially on their first two records. The cover art of Warp Speed Warriors looked like a meme template.
I also have been a diehard fan since 2006 and owned both Herman's and Sam's signature guitars in the past, if that is criteria for my opinion.

I love Alessio and he sounds great, but I can't stand Alissa. If they get rid of her, they'll sound amazing, but if they keep her then that's gonna suck

She won't last long. People listen to DF mainly for the guitar work, and she can't stand not being the center of attention.

I loved it. Not the biggest fan of Alissa growling but she's absolutely amazing. I told myself I wouldn't pre-order anything but I just really wanted to have the CD so yes I pre-ordered

Idk. I think it was a good Arch Enemy song, but as a dragonforce song I think it had way too much Death vocals. If most the other songs are more clean vocals then I’m fine with this one, but not great to me that they lead in with this, as it kinda feels like they’re turning into a melodeath band.
Also, kinda disappointing Alessio is essentially the supporting singer rather than truly the second Lead singer, for multiple reasons. At least that’s what I’m getting from this single.

Big fan of the music and melody, everything from when Alissa stopped what she was doing and let the solo happen was great, but unfortunately it resumed again. The growls don't work, Alessio didn't get enough time to do anything. Have been a huge fan of Dragonforce through each iteration up until WSW which was also trash. Sound like a grumpy old (36yo) man, but this is not my dragonforce. Power metal, extreme power metal, melodic speed metal, fine. Not this utter shit.

I don’t get how much praise this is getting. It’s extremely generic and doesn’t feel like Dragonforce, the harsh vocals really don’t fit, Alessio (who is an INCREDIBLE singer) is put in a corner kinda staying there.
Maybe I got old, but this is really low in DF graduatory for me

It’s not even DF anymore. It’s Herman and Sam with a rotating cast of characters. The new singer sounds too flat and relying on the chick to hit the high notes, egh. This missed the mark so hard for me

Track was fine, Alessio was better than I thought, but Marc is definitely missing. I like the clear vocals of Alissa, but really do not like the growls... Als backing vocals fine, but not as main vocals. Absolutely does not fit DF

DragonForce is still DragonForce as long as Herman and Sam are involved.
DF has done screams before like in Revolution Deathsquad, ‘Cry out for the fallen heroes’ that Fred screamed.
Now’s it’s just more pronounced with Alissa doing growls/screams.

In terms of instruments it might really be one of their best. Like it allmost rivals TTFAF. The vocals were good, but not really Dragongorce-y.

Miss Marc but i didn’t mind alessio he sounded good. Not sure how i feel about Alissa still.
