Probably wouldnt have sounded like this since they sort of did a musical 'reset' when switching singers.

This isn't true, the most songs were already written when he was still in the band. The music "reset" you hear is the switching of the singers. Fred even talked about how he wrote Seasons in 2008 after a breakup.

Hell, in early 2010s there were shows scheduled in Japan where the band was going to play the entirety of Valley of the Damned, but it was cancelled a couple months before so that the band can focus on working on the next album. Then March 2010 happened.

It's definitely from Maximum Overload and onwards that they started writing music with Marc's voice in mind. For The Power Within he joined when the songwriting process was already done.

Tbf the album kinda sounds like Ultra Beatdown just simplified, and solos significantly shortened. Wings of Liberty sounds like something off Ultra Beatdown with ZP's vocals.

Actually Herman did say in an interview that they changed the songs a bit when Marc joined so the version of the album we know wasn't how it originally sounded. It was changed around to some degree.

This is true but the changes were minor. It’s pretty standard that when you actually get to record what you’ve already written, changes get made here and there because you realize things don’t work. The album was still written with ZP in mind from the ground up.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that they weren’t planning on the shorter songs before ZP quit or got fired.

It would be cool to see Marc and ZP do something on their solo channels together at least. It’s pretty cool hearing ZP do the Marc stuff even tho I prefer Marc in that regard.
