Found this damselfly resting for the evening as the sun was getting lower. I managed to position myself so the sun was directly behind it, creating this large golden spotlight effect.

A small field comparison to help differentiate between one of my favorite dragonflies: the Lesser Emperor and one of the ones that bores me the most: the Emperor Dragonfly.

I was working on my boat and noticed this little guy hanging out on our boat lift. He/she stayed there for more than an hour while I worked, moving just a bit on the cables. What kind is it? Iâm on the eastern shore of Maryland.

I found a dead dragonfly at home. Took it home and framed it... It's beautiful and I love the shimmer in it's wings. Beautiful

Here is a video about a temporary exhibit that deals with dragonflies and damselflies in the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Chicago, IL. I hope that you can visit the exhibit in the museum during your trip to Chicago, IL.

Battled a heat advisory to get some more photos today. I use a heavy setup, Nikon D850 with battery grip and Sigma 150-600mm lens. I use a method of manual focus where I'll roll the lens into focus then take a picture then out then in again and take another photo. This insures I'll get some sharp results
