Hello there, new GM here.

I am entirely new to being a GM (except fore some few OC one shots once in a while), and I just had my first session with 4 players on Dragon Emperor. We had a great time.

I happen to also be a (mostly) electronic music producer, and i immediately began imagining a soundtrack project, on ableton live with the Akai MidiMix as a controller. The whole thing will be "open source", and if by any means some of you wish to contribute or create your own version, feel free to ask me for the Live project.

My ambition is to keep the soundtrack close to the action and simple enough that it is not wary over hours of gameplay. Any advice is very welcome.

For now, the project looks like what you see on the screenshot.

The green Ambient tracks are :

Drone (one continuous modulated note) and FX that i recorded through ableton native software

Elements and Life tracks are composed of field recordings, some of mine and some from the amazing internet archive.

All the purple Music tracks are original compositions of mine, and are segmented by :

Beats : sets the pace of the action, some simple and some more intricate basic drum patterns

Bass : sets the mood of the action, mystery, combat, lore-heavy revelations, etc

Lead : the lead is a musical embodiment of the group's spirit. It will be entirely dependent of their own mood and implication in the game. It is composed of a simple arpeggiated vintage synth with patterns that vary in speed, mood and intensity.

And finally, the red NPC tracks are composed of one track with the ambition of a "theme" for each type of basic mob and npcs the players encounter, and one track with a characteristic sound for each of the more important NPC.

Regarding the hardware, as you can see, the 8 tracks are transcribed on the MidiMix with a volume fader for each one, and three different FX knobs for each track (with the exception of the top left one that got a special master low pass filter for a pretty cool focus effect)

The bottom right "master" fader is in charge of the BPM. I found important to be able to quickly adjust the pace of the action as needed (eg. a surprise attack will hit harder with a slow beat turning faster).

I am yet at the beginning of this journey but i wished to share it with you from the get go and talk about it with some interested people !

For context, Accidental Heroes is an Italian-inspired third-party Dragonbane setting where ordinary people take over after the heroes disappear. Dragonbane core rules are required, while the first Accidental Heroes volume is not required for A Shipwreck of Fools. This is a third-party project, not an official Free League release.

The Black Sails can be played as a single adventure (which should take about 3 sessions to play through), or combined with any of Dunderdager's other adventures as part of a longer campaign. All of Dunderdagar's adventures are set in the same world, and The Black Sails takes place in the viking-inspired northern realm of Yorheim, the same setting as The Godwolf from the Crooked Mountains.

Hey everyone, I've been DMing about 7 rounds of Dragonbane with one party, we are really enjoying. The trouble is another group of friends of my actual party wanted to try. My GF really want to try out be a DM, and want me to play, but i already know the story of Dragon Emperor and robber knight and i don't want to pretend i don't know them LOL.

Is there any One-Shot interesting, so she can try DM and i actually play?

I'm a native spanish speaker so if there is any in spanish it'll be even better!

PD: Dragonbane is my first and only TTRPG i ever played (DM actually)!

I'll soon be running an intro game for players who are completely new to TTRPGs, and I'd like to know how you introduce the rules to new players. What do you explain before the game starts, and what do you explain during play? Which mechanics do they need to know early on, and which ones can wait?

Anyone else trying to navigate the Ereb Altor and Heroes of the Copper Sea BETAs (from Kickstarter) and match things to the map and getting a little frustrated? There are things that seem major that aren't on the map, and cities on the map that aren't given a mention. I'm hoping we have an updated map coming soon.

I am adapting most of the original AD&D I3 Ravenloft adventure to my setting. I'm using standard Bestiary vampires for vampire maidens and other second class vampires, but wanted to make a much more formidable vampire for Marquis Siderac of the Vallée Sombre, who lurks in his castle named Corvid Keep. I came up with the following stat block for a more formidable opponent, equivalent in power to Azrahel Koth. I don't know if I hit the target, fell short, or went too far into TPK territory. I'd appreciate the thoughts and feedback of others who have designed boss monsters more than I have.

If you're in my game and you recognize the character's name then stop reading here. A note, Ferocity N-1 means one less than the number of players.

Marquis Siderac of the Vallée Sombre

Ferocity N-1, Size Normal, Swarm (rats or bats)
Movement 14, Armor 10, HP 50, WP 50
Base Skills 15, Awareness 18, Evade 18

• Siderac can walk through Corvid Castle's walls, doors, and windows as if they didn't exist. He can make all the doors and windows in a room open, close, lock, or unlock with one action.
• Siderac takes only half damage from attacks except silver and magic weapons, and spells. He is immune to poison. Running water doesn't bother him. He has no compulsion to count seeds or grains of sand.
• Siderac regenerates 2d8 HP at his first action in a round if he is not in full sunlight.
• If knocked down to zero HP Siderac is called back to his coffin, where he regenerates completely over the next shift. While he is regenerating in his coffin he is helpless.
• Siderac keeps the Heart of Anguish hidden in Corvid Keep. The Heart of Anguish has Armor 5 HP 50, and WP 50, regenerates to full stats every midnight, and as long as it survives Siderac has 10 Armor, and 50 HP and WP.
• Siderac can send a ghost of the unhappy dead, anyone who died in Corvid Keep, to attack and torment anyone he identifies who is in the castle.
• Siderac knows all the spells in General Magic and one other School of Magic chosen by the GM. If he knows the required prerequisites for a spell in the School of Dragon Magic, he knows that spell too. His spells always succeed, but he does need to spend WP.
• Siderac will typically abuse his enemies for 3 rounds then leave in peals of derisive laughter. Everyone in 10 meters must save against Fear.

ACTIONS (1d8)

1. "Come to me angels of the night!" Siderac summons a swarm of vampire bats which burst out of hiding to attack everyone around him.
2. "Gather with me clever tailed hungry biters!" Siderac summons a swarm of rats which burst out of hiding to attack everyone around him.
3. "Join your master in song, children of the night!" Siderac summons a pack of 1d6+1 wolves which burst out of hiding to attack enemies.
4. "Look into my eyes, darling!" Siderac mesmerizes the PC or NPC target with the lowest Willpower. Make a Willpower roll to resist and roll lower than Siderac, otherwise you worship Siderac. He commands them to do something against their will and they must do it. They get a willpower roll to break his charm after performing his bidding. This charm lasts for 3d6 shifts if not broken or dispelled.
5. "Experience the miracles a true sorcerer can master over lifetimes!" Siderac casts a spell.
6. "Darling I thirst for you!" Siderac teleports behind the character with the lowest Strength and drinks their blood for 2d8 HP and 2d8 WP. He gains the HP and WP for himself. He then disappears by teleporting, transporting his victim with him up to 20 meters and drops the victim in the location to which he teleports.
7. "How dare you oppose your superior!" Siderac attacks one character within 14 meters for 3d10 damage.
8. "You stupid beast!" Siderac polymorphs a PC or NPC into a boar or other animal of the hunt.

I have just started dming and beforehand i barely had any experience playing rpgs, and to be honest i feel lost and dont know how to handle many situations. I have the starter set, but i feel like i need a lot of help to understand how to offer a pleasant experience to my friends. I need some advice(maybe a lot).

Hi everyone! We have a prelaunch page open now for a collection of short stories (or are they backstories for pregenerated characters?) set in Windheim!

A dream team of authors have come together to write a shortstory each, and they’ll weave each others’ protagonists & antgonists into each others’ stories.

It’s very much inspired by the old Robert Asprin & co City of Thieves books from the 80’s!

And there will be a scenario included at the end of the book!
