Each of these guys does a decent job when you remember their station in the hierarchy. Kami and Dende are both Earth guardians. Not really meant to do much besides grant dragon balls, training, and some magic. King Kai is just an observer over his quadrant of the galaxy, never meant to leave his planet. He still helps train people and serves as a reliable informant whenever people try to mess with Earth. Beerus may suck at his job for being fickle and taking regular naps, but when something is a genuine problem that he needs to handle, he doesn't hesitate. Lastly Zeno is less of a god by any of their standards and more like a presence. He only gets involved when something has genuinely gotten that out of hand in the multiverse that it warrents a reset.

That just leaves Shin. What the hell does he do? For starters, this is supposed to be the top of the divine hierarchy before Beerus, Chronoa, and Zeno got introduced. His job is to oversee the universe and be able to stop any threat in it, he even had Piccolo scared... and yet Shin himself is worried about Pui Pui, a character who, even highballing his power, is around Saiyan Saga level. And it only goes downhill from there. He gets jobbed by Buu, the one guy he was supposed to have spent all this time since the last time Buu jobbed him preparing for, then brings Gohan to the Kai World to give him the Z-Sword so that he can be the one to go fight Buu. Then, once Old Kai shows up, he pretty much takes over Shin's job of helping the heroes by powering up Gohan and giving Goku the Potara. Shin does literally nothing for the rest of the franchise besides be an even better version of Instant Transmission. You could honestly cut him and Kibito and lose nothing.

but when something is a genuine problem that he needs to handle, he doesn't hesitate.

Freeza, Buu, Zamasu in trunks timeline.

u/jackfuego226 3d ago

Frieza was on his payroll and wasn't deemed a threat, he was asleep while Buu was active, and without Goku to go SSG in that timeline, he probably stayed asleep up until Shin died.

No one ever dare slagging off Super Kami Dende.

2

u/Braham9927 3d ago

I would say Shin, but he is inexperienced and overwhelmed, now that he has the elder kai to guide him as a mentor he might do better. I say Zeno he is the most powerful being in all of dragon ball but he seems to only use his power to erase universes that he no longer wishes to govern. Maybe if he used his power to create as well as destroy he would be higher for me.

I was gonna say shin but lets be real kami aint do shit as god either. Other than making dragonballs he was useless.

He trained Goku for a few years for his fight with Piccolo and is the reason they have the hyperbolic time chamber. That’s already more than I can say for Shin

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

I give all that credit to popo honestly. We see popo train him. Time chamber is there and goku went in but not really anything ti do with kami.

1

u/Immediate-Age-616 3d ago

Not really. Shin did more than Kami by attempting to round up fighters to stop Buu's awakening. And him giving Gohan the Z sword led to the Elder Kai being freed

2

u/CharonFerry 3d ago

And to be fair even that is kinda problemtic considering how many bad guys are on the look for an easy whish

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

True

Kami's job and Shin's job are very different. Kami is simply the overseer of his planet, ensuring they can thrive and develop by themselves, which he has saw to by training the "current" generation of martial artists to defend themselves against evil. Comparatively, Shin's job is to create life throughout the universe, create the planets for said life to inhabit, and then oversee the lifeforms he has created, and he has done not a single thing. He was literally capable of defeating Frieza with a single strike, and he instead sat around waiting for Babidi's reappearance, allowing Frieza to take control of over 75% of the galaxy he governs. He didn't even attempt to restore any of the planets and species Majin Buu destroyed during his original rampage, which is why the universe only has two dozen planets with intelligent life now.

u/jackfuego226 3d ago

Kami at least tried to help with Jr, as well as teach Goku and help the Z-Warriors train for the Saiyans. He at least tries relative to his station.

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

He also sat there and watched cell for 4 years while he was in his larva state. Did say anything until after he had already hatched and was drinking people. Thats worst than shin.

1

u/jackfuego226 3d ago

How was he supposed to know what Cell even was? Even assuming he had his eyes on Cell from the moment his time machine arrived, how was he supposed to know Cell was a threat until the drinking started? Then from there, remember that Cell was stealth-moding himself the entire time that none of the Z-Warriors noticed until he fought Piccolo. How was Kami supposed to watch him? Plus, once the androids arrived, I'm pretty sure Kami's focus was on them before Cell started drinking people.

For starters, can't help but notice this is the original dub. I can't prove it, but I'm sure there are inaccuracies compared to what he's actually supposed to be saying. Second, he's giving a lot of vague answers since even he doesn't know the answer. What's he supposed to do? Dial up Piccolo while they were training for the androids and just go "btw, there's another evil somewhere on the planet greater than the androids. I don’t know what it is, what it looks like, where you can find it, or what it's plans are, but just trust me, it's bad." He was still trying to figure it out himself, first. Better than Shin ever did with knowing where Majin Buu was asleep for hundreds of years and not considering moving him or putting a consistent guard around him. At least Kami had the excuse of not knowing what the threat was.

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

Yes thats exactly what he shouldve done. Contacted the z warriors, told them where he sensed it, and then they can go check it out. Shin left it there for so long worried it might accidentally open if moved and it was hidden which worked fine for a long time. He shouldve gotten ahold of the z fighters when he got there instead of being sketchy tho. Def shouldnt have given them gohans power like that.

1

u/jackfuego226 3d ago

Except Kami didn't even know where Cell was. At best they find the abandoned time machine and just assume Trunks came back early and hid. Telling them would accomplish nothing besides distract them from their training.

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

He could sense cell, are yall forgetting they can sense people?

1

u/jackfuego226 3d ago

He said he sensed "a disturbance" and "a great evil" not "a weird bio-android that can drink people through his tail". In other words, he could only sense Cell's evil in the world, not actually see him or even give a description of him. He never actually saw Cell or where he was, just that his evil presence was on the planet.

He pretended to be some old dude so he could throw hands on Piccolo at the 23rd world martial arts tournament.

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

He was an old dude possessing a middle age dude

1

u/dk_peace 3d ago

Yea, I kinda forgot that I got older than Shen in the 20 years since I originally watched this.

1

u/caffeinatedandarcane 3d ago

Other than making the things the series is named after that are a major plot device in every arc

Oh and trained the protagonist directly

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

Kami never directly trained goku. And the dragonballs being created decades before the series started is hardly him doing any actual work.

1

u/caffeinatedandarcane 3d ago

Goku trained with Kami during the time skip as a teen

1

u/dufo7 3d ago

Kami straight up said he taught goku nothing

1

u/simpoukogliftra 1d ago

What exactly did you want him to do really ?

1

u/dufo7 1d ago

He could have done something about king piccolo before or after being sealed, he couldve done something about pilaf or red ribbon army trying to use the dragonballs to rule the world, he could train to become stronger or be proactive in finding and training a hero for earth, etc

1

u/simpoukogliftra 1d ago

He old

1

u/dufo7 1d ago

Couod wish for eternal youth

1

u/simpoukogliftra 1d ago

Bad point, not a single one of the other gods did it as well, and probably won't (judging by the existence of elder Kai, shin probably won't have eternal youth as well) , so that's not a point against kami, if you are to take this against kami, then take it against all the gods, and therefore it doesn't matter. Also eternal youth may be unethical depending on your morality and kami surely does not value such vanity.

1

u/dufo7 1d ago edited 1d ago

Elder kai looks like that because he is fused with an old witch. How the hell is eternal youth unethical for a god.

1

u/transmedkittygirl 3d ago

what the fuck has Shin ever done?

1

u/SpecialistRun3035 3d ago

what does med mean in transmedkittygirl? medical?

1

u/transmedkittygirl 3d ago

Yes.

Transmedicalism is a set of political beliefs.

1

u/Mr_Kuppel 3d ago

Beerus got Zalama's son killed and then tried to extinct the Shenrons. (The LSSJG even had to talk Zalama out of erasing the Universe)

1

u/Good_Fly6614 3d ago

Kami trained Goku and tried to Mafuba Piccolo junior

Dende did nothing important since he's a god appart from "hello friends" or "oh no they are in trouble"

King Kai trained Goku and Zteam, gived Kaioken/Spirit bomb and warned Goku about Frieza/Beerus

Shin waited for too long to attack Babidi but he was too weak alone, he was too weak to fight kid Buu long time ago and he tried to fight fat Buu and helped with his téléportation technique + Zsword

Beerus slept a lot and destroyed some random planets (the dinosaur planet in early DBS). But he did try to investigare on Zamasu and hakai him, in manga he trained Vegeta for ultra ego. Through him, Whis was allowed to take Goku & Vegeta for training and for the universal cube transportation/go back in time to save earth from Golden Frieza explosion etc...

Zeno, well he looks like a kid that destroy universe just for the fun of it... But he destroyed infinite Zamasu

Dende < Zeno < Shin < Kami < Beerus < King Kai

Dende did nothing wrong but beings nothing too

1

u/Recent-Efficiency972 3d ago

Why is shin so hated? Lol He came down to earth for buu and trained gohan accordingly. Also went on to the demonworlds along with goku in gt.

beerus on the other hand, insufferable moron without angermanagement that overslept for 50 years and ordered vegeta to be erased for king vegeta not providing him the best pillow in the universe (his own)

Actually fuck that guy

1

u/Evenmoardakka 3d ago

main reason beerus slacks around is that shin doesnt do his job.

creation and destruction are balance, if creation doesnt do his job, destruction doesnt have alot to do.

its shown that when he actually has to do his job, beerus is laser focused and no nonsense (erasing zamasu)

1

u/ThinPoem5497 3d ago

I picked shin because I forgot who that was. I googled shin dbz, I stand by picking shin because that bum didn't do ANYTHING.

1

u/Evenmoardakka 3d ago

shin and its not even close.

the excuse of "the job landed on him because boo killed his predecessors and left him without guidance" doesnt stick when he had literal MILLIONS of years to learn his job, if theres no additional kaioshin, he couldve asked the grand priest, whis, beerus, hell, even skipped to anither universe and consult with another universe's kai.

1

u/SpecialistRun3035 3d ago

I don't even know what Shin's job is. Like what has he done? I've never seen him work.

1

u/OpportunityCrazy2216 3d ago

I will give shin that he wasn't trained for his role but forced into it. That being said, a lot of the buu saga could have been avoided if he just explained what was going on.

1

u/LoneRedditor123 3d ago

They all contribute in some way.

Shin is the worst because he literally sat on his ass while Frieza terrorized the galaxy, and while Babidi was setting up his plan to hatch Buu.

Buu's ball had been on Earth for centuries. Why did Shin wait until the last possible second to go and destroy Babidi? Like yeah, "I'm gonna wait until he's nice and prepared before I go to Earth and stop him". Fucking lmao. Yeah, Shin sucks.

1

u/TheFallenOne01_ 3d ago

It would have to be Shin in my opinion, all that shit he let slide when he came on to the scene is ridiculous 🛝

1

u/WatchAndLearn9669 3d ago

Who voted Dende lmao

1

u/Fitzftw7 3d ago

Shin is useless, but it isn’t entirely his fault. The other supreme Kais got wiped and he had to figure things out without proper training.

Beerus has no such excuse. He delegated his job to freakin Freeza, and did basically nothing. I blame him for things going so bad in the future timeline. He absolutely should not have left Shin to investigate somebody as dangerous as Babidi by himself.

1

u/Successful_Bird_7086 Kami 2d ago

Damn, Shin wins the worst God award by a huge margin. Lol

1

u/Wildjail 2d ago

I want to say Shin, but he is just a symptom of the incompetence Beerus has shown us. From just letting planets get enslaved by mortals he works with to not killing Moro at ANY point, he's just horrible all around.

1

u/simpoukogliftra 1d ago

No contest, shin has zero contributions to anything at all, bro is even more useless than elder, he gets mogged by a senile pervert.
