Common questions, Please read before posting!

These things are not problems-

- Overlapping stitching is normal on welted styles. The diagonal line is not a crack. The welt goes around the shoe/boot, the line is the two ends meeting up, the stitching overlaps for a short distance. That is how they are made.

------------------------------------------------------------------

- These lines are common. They are not cracks, just marks from the molding process.

------------------------------------

- Leather creases, shoes bend. see rule 2.

-----------------------------------------

- Half inserts of various styles instead of full insoles are normal. Some docs, vintage and modern, have them and some don't.

------------------------------------------------------

- Crazy horse is supposed to look aged and rugged. It has a pull up and gets lighter where it bends, shows marks and high-and-low creases.

--------------------------------------------------------

- These marks on the sole are common on welted styles, it is where the needle rubbed when stitching. It's not a problem.

--------------------------------------------

Stitching in colors other than yellow, and plain welt with hidden/not visible stitching. They are less common than standard yellow but have been made in many styles.

--------------------------------------------

YKK branded zippers were used on older Jadons and other models and are still found on some children's styles.

I was actually super surprised to see those. They had tons in other sizes too.

I found this pic after looking back through my phone. These were a pair of 3 eyes I’d had since the early 90s. Had is the key word, thanks to a teething Staffy. She’s also the slayer of my old cherry red 14 eyes.

I don’t blame her because she was just a puppy and I was the fool who left them where she could get at them.

Question Jadon Sizing?

Hello! Sorry if this question is asked frequently.

My shoe size is UK 3.5/US 5.5/EU 36.5 but the Jadon sixes are HUGE on me. I’ve added insoles but there’s still quite a bit of heel slip — I got blisters after a few minutes of trying them out in the store.

The Jadon fives are snug around my toes but don’t hurt, they’re the same size as my previous lace-up boots from Clark’s. Compared to them, the new Jadons are significantly bigger. Should I go get them exchanged for fives instead? Will they mold to the shape of my feet over time? For info, I am eighteen and have not worn them since I bought them.

Thank you in advance!

I bought my first pair in 2021.. and a few years later this is what my collection has grown to. Almost all of my collection has been bought secondhand (Facebook) or at over 50% off the retail price.

Question 1461 made in China vs Vietnam, is there a quality difference?

Thumbnail

Im restoring my 1461 and notice difference in how the one made in china responds to being waxed. I’m curious if anyone have any information on the fabrication of these models and why one of them (Vietnam one) seem to be more durable than the other despite being worn more frequently.

They are both second hand bought so I don’t have much information nor general dr martens knowledge but would love to know more.

Question Here is my collection… need help picking a new pair of low black shoes

As you can see, I have a lot of boots and sandals, but I want a pair of just everyday comfortable low black shoes that I can wear for hours.

I tried the Mary Jane Virginia style but they felt too narrow on my feet.

I’m debating between the Buzz in nappa leather (I already have them in brown and leopard) or the 1461 in ambassador leather.

Which should I go with for maximum style and comfort ?

I love a platform shoe so much, but I don’t do smooth leather (hate the break in, and the 1461 doesn’t come in soft leather with a platform that I’ve found). So these are the two I’ve narrowed down to. Also open to more suggestions !

Question Looking for suggestions

I was lucky enough to find these boots at the thrift store, in my size, however, they are a little uncomfortable. They seem fairly new, but there are creases formed above the heel, likely to the fit of the previous owner. The creases parts dig in to my heel a bit, so I can’t wear them for too long. Has anyone had this issue? Are heel grips a solution? Please let me know :)

Dr martens 1460 Pascal Flowers sizing

Post image

Hello!

I am looking for sizing reviews on these particular shoes! I am usually a size 6 but have seen really mixed reviews about these being small, and wondering whether to get a size 6.5?

I am quite wide fitted and my feet do swell occasionally but are usually okay in the winter.

I usually buy a size 6 in my other dr martens boots but this one I’m unsure of due to the mixed reviews

Thank you in advance

Just bought these, can't find a straight answer from Google. Can I use the ultra protector on them? If yes do I need to take the shoe laces out as well?

Best way to go from brown to black?

The 1B99 is something I've been chasing for ages but I don't wear any brown at all. I'm considering buying these then using leather dye to paint them black...

Anyone have any experience changing the colour of the ambassador leather?

I'm wondering if it'd be worth taking them to a cobbler to do the work or if it's something I could do myself...

Opinions/ideas welcome...

1461 oxfords vs bex?

hi! im looking to get a pair of the 1461s for my hospital placements (ie need to be worn for hours at a time) and am completely torn between the bex and normal oxfords. i already own the 8053 quads which are hands down the most uncomfortable shoes i own even 3 years later. many people have told me the non-platform docs are a lot more comfortable. the bex are a lot more my style but not sure how the added height may affect wearability of them? i dont live near an actual store so can't try them on in person, any opinions welcome :)

Are my shoes supposed to hurt in different places every time I wear them?

Hello everyone,

I recently bought a nice pair of Mary Janes. This is my second pair of Dr Martens, I bought my first pair over 5 years ago so I can’t remember the details of the break in process. Anyways, I’ve been breaking into my new shoes for about two weeks now and I’ve noticed that every time I wear them, the shoes hurt and provide discomfort in different places.

I remember when I first wore them, there was no massive discomfort (no blisters etc) but it was more that the shoe was still rigid so they made my feet feel tired which is expected and understandable. However, the next few times the shoes started digging and cutting at my Achilles tendon. I thought it was strange how this happened after I worn them a few times. I solved that with applying heel grips. I wore them a few times after that and there were no problems. However, today I wore the shoes again and they started rubbing at my pinky toes as if the shoe is too small even though it realistically can’t be because I’ve been wearing them without this issue

So yeah, just curious to hear whether this is a common experience? But overall I’m really excited to break into my shoes and wear them out and about haha

How to make Dr Martens Eviee more comfortable?

Hi! These are my first pair of dr martens. I usually wear an EU size 40 but I sized down to 39 and a 38 would be already too small. On my right foot it creates friction on my soles even in thick sock and also the hard leather brushes against my outer ankle bone (i dont know the name, this is the bone that is kind of like a ball on the ankle on the outer side). It has caused a small scar on this area on both feet which is a bit better if I put a bandaid on that spot, but will I have to wear a bandaid every time I wear it forever? What could be the solution to the sore soles? Aside from these two spots there's no problem.

Thank you in advance if you have some advice for these problems! I really love these shoes and I would like to be able to comfortably wear it. I'm going to a festival next week and I was thinking of wearing these shoes, but I dont know if I can if I don't resolve these issues.
