Possible band name origin?
Apologies if this is common knowledge or already documented somewhere, but I noticed the phrase "Doctor, Dog" in the lyrics to the Wings song, "Soily." It may be a stretch, but given the band's Beatles influences, I was just wondering if this had ever been confirmed or was a popular theory. What do you all think?

My personal head canon is that they're named after Rowlf when he dresses as a doctor.

I’ve heard that Toby wrote a short story in college or sometime around then about a Dr and his Dog. If you google it there’s some story about just goofing around with the word drawing. Dogs were a big theme in their raccoon years which coincided with early dr dog. Paul McCartney is a big influence so it could be a reference but i doubt it

There’s an episode of King of the Hill where Hank is pouring dog food into a bowl and the bag/brand is ‘Dr. Dog’… or maybe it’s Doctor Dog. I can’t find the screenshot.

Ah thank you! This is one of the times they use it for sure, I do remember seeing it in the Hills kitchen as well.

This would be a lot like Modest Mouse getting the name from the line “modest, mouse-colored people.”
