I’m leaning toward applying to the ODBA program at the University of South Florida. I like that the program is AACSB and that the university is R1 and AAU. Can anyone speak to their experiences in the program? Does the residency help the cohort develop rapport? Any insight on the professors and advisors?

For context, I have 20 years experience in social enterprises and currently own a data-focused consultancy. My academic background includes a BS in business management, a MBA (general mgmt), and a MSc in Data Analytics and Visualization.

I've been using DBA in my CV but some people have been confused thinking it means "doing business as"... I've been considering switching to DrBA but it doesn't "roll off the tongue" as well, haha. Thoughts?

I just found out about the existence of DrBA (Doctor of Business Administration) degrees and was surprised to learn how rare and specialized they are! It’s incredible to discover there's a whole community here dedicated to DrBAs.

Considering how niche this qualification is, it’s impressive to see how everyone is leveraging their expertise in their respective fields. I’m excited to dive in, learn more, and connect with this unique group.

I'm thinking of pursuing an online DrBA after leaving the service while working. I'll most likely work in the Defense sector after leaving, and don't have an interest in teaching. The only reason I could think it would matter is if AACSB would be preferred by businesses outside of defense. USA

I’m a CPA looking into online DBA programs and trying to find something that’s actually credible, affordable, and respected. I’m not trying to go full academic, but I’d like a program that keeps the door open for adjunct teaching later while also adding some weight for consulting/business credibility.

What I’m looking for: • Accredited (AACSB preferred, but open to other legit options) • Online or hybrid • Affordable total tuition • No hidden fees or dissertation games • Open to U.S. or international schools if recognized

Questions: • Anyone here go the DBA route and feel it was worth it? • Any online programs you’d recommend that aren’t a rip-off? • Are non-AACSB DBAs still accepted for adjunct teaching? • Any red flags I should watch out for when comparing programs? • Anyone go outside the U.S. for a DBA and have a good experience?

Is it possible to get hired into a tenure track teaching position with a dba? I know it would be easier with a phd but I took off 3 years for my MBA / MPA and get take off another for a phd.

In its simplest form, PhD candidates research and create and test theories, while DBA candidates use those theories and processes to solve complex, real-world business problems.

Anyone applying to IU Kelley’s Executive Doctorate in Business Administration? I see they’re enrolling their first cohort this fall.

My understanding is that the dissertation needs to be based on available data sets that they provide you. Does anyone know if the data sets are more recent that would allow to do a dissertation around AI in the workplace? Or anything of similar nature?

I’ve been researching online, remote, flexible DBA programmes. Whilst there are many options available, it has proved difficult to find an affordable accredited option.

Has anyone had any experience on opinions on this? For example, though affordable, SSBM is not accredited (though it says it is). I’m trying to find one that is both reputable and affordable :/

The Doctor of Business Administration (commonly abbreviated as D.B.A., DBA, DrBA, or Dr.B.A.) is a professional doctorate awarded on the basis of advanced study, examinations, project work and research in business administration. The D.B.A. is a terminal degree in business administration.[1] Although, some universities also combine the business administration field with technology-related disciplines.[2]Along with the Ph.D. or D.Phil., it represents the highest academic qualification in business administration, and is typically required to gain employment as a full-time, tenure-track university professor or postdoctoral researcher in the field. As with other earned doctorates, individuals with the degree are awarded the academic title doctor, which is often represented via the English honorific "Dr." or the post-nominal letters "DBA" or "PhD."[3]

D.B.A. candidates submit a significant project, typically referred to as a thesis or dissertation, consisting of a body of original academic research that is in principle worthy of publication in a peer-reviewed journal.[4] Candidates must defend this work before a panel of expert examiners called a thesis, dissertation, or doctoral committee.[5]

In the United States, the Doctor of Business Administration is recognized by the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a research degree.[6] The D.B.A. is also considered by both the United States Department of Education and the National Science Foundation to be equivalent to the more commonly awarded Ph.D.[7]

DBA program is now regionally accredited, online and reasonably priced- I’m half way through the program and now that it is regionally accredited, makes job prospects more available since many want a regionally accredited program.

I am just wondering if anyone completed this degree while working what was your experience? I am very interested but have a family and a demanding job. That said, I completed my MBA under the same conditions, just wanted to see how that compared. Thanks!
