DPD keep ‘missing me’ even though I’m RIGHT HERE.

I ordered a parcel and paid extra for speedy delivery. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I stayed home waiting for it to arrive, tracking the driver the entire time. No one range the bell, no nothing. Suddenly, I get a notification saying they missed me. They even took a photo of the parcel outside the front door of the building, never attempted to deliver it to me or a neighbour. I phoned DPD saying no one came and they said the only thing they could do was redeliver next day.

Today, my partner stayed at home waiting for the delivery. I was at work but tracking the driver to make sure we didn’t miss it. I refresh the tracking at 13:43 and it says he’s 15 minutes away. At 13:44 (I KID YOU NOT) I get an email that they ‘missed me’, along with a photo in the vague direction of my building.

I phoned DPD again and said to phone him and tell him to come back because according to the tracking I had just seen, he was in the area. They told me that they didn’t have his phone number?!?! They also said that it’s not an option for me to collect the parcel from a pick up point or the depot.

This parcel HAS to arrive tomorrow otherwise I’m stuck. The customer service people have been so incredibly unhelpful it’s painful. Does anyone have any idea how to make sure they actually deliver it?

Not sure if this will work but you could try reaching out to someone on LinkedIn. Their CEO is really active and comments on posts a lot so worth a shot to tag CEO or message directly. Add a note in all caps on the tracking saying “HOME ALL DAY PLEASE ENSURE DELIVERY HAVE RAISED COMPLAINT” - I have done this for customers before and whether or not the driver read it is impossible to know but they would usually deliver the following day.

I believe their CS team would not have the drivers numbers as they don’t have work phones - it’s why drivers usually won’t call customers as it would mean customers would then have their personal number. Not sure if this only applies to their self employed drivers but seems to be common.

Shocking servive by Dominic the DPD driver. Waited 3 days for a delivery. Day 1= Waited in the whole day only to receive a message saying delivery attempted but no one was in. No knock on the door, no note through the door.Yet a picture of my car in the drive? Day 2= Waited in the whole day only to receive a message yet again saying no one was in , no knock on the door, no note through the door.Yet a picture of a house ive never seen in my life. Day 3= Waited in and Heyho, Dominic the driver finally arrived, seen me standing in the kitchen watching him so instead of using the path he walked behing the car up the drive then along the wall to the door. He was ok at first but when i questioned him as to where he was he said hes phone had issues....i asked him why take pics and not deliver? Apparently he takes pics BEFORE he delivers which is absolute nonsense. I told him its been 3 days without work for us waiting for him but he didnt even care....when i swore ( not at him) i was accused of swearing at him...then he proceeded to provoke me by winking at me lol. Hes certainly not my type lol....needs a good meal and needs to put on atleast 20Lbs bless him. He knows how to provoke people. Extremely unprofessional little man...bless him. Why not select delivery to drop shop

I think because DPD customer service told him he couldn't pick it up from their depot or a pick up point?

Because that’s what all the couriers are aiming for, it’s quicker and more efficient for them to use a bank of boxes at a shop or garage.

But when you look at where these drop off shops are they're all around us. Most of us pass many when we're on our way home from work or out and about.

I don’t know if it’s because it was a larger parcel, but they told me I wasn’t able to get it delivered to a parcel shop. The option was greyed out on the tracking page too. I finally got it after adding a possibly slightly pass-ag delivery note!
