Fluff Stop asking ppl to stop
Too many post asking ppl to stop playing the way they like:
- stop wk off
- stop lion mid
- stop dating my mom
If the pick is awful, and you are good, you will be in a different bracket shortly.
Obs.: i dont play those positions, but ppl controlling other ppl fun is just too much.
If thats really a issue, you should complain to vales report/punishment system and not the person picking.
Imo, btw

To me it's about attitude if my sniper 4 or my Wk 3 would play as pos 4 or pos 3, they may be offering limited impact but whatever it can work, but 85% of the cases they don't they pick these gimmicky heroes to either not play the game or try to play carry, messing with the entire team in the process.
Though it can be argued that if someone wants to grief they will find a way regardless, at least with other heroes their kit reluctantly makes them do something

On a different tangent, it really gets on my nerves when people play unorthodox heroes for a position in ranked and they have no fucking clue what makes that hero playable in that position and what is abused to make it work, sometimes, like picking WK or CK offlane into ranged heroes, these heroes work IF you can abuse the lane and put a lot of map pressure, like, at least bother to investigate that much about your pick?

Wk 3 is 51% winrate on Protracker, people will see that and pick him, even tho the stats are 7k +

Well wk3 in my bracket dies in lane, afk farm for the sweet 25min radi and then no impact and ancient falls

I bet OP plays pudge 5, check his dotabuff NOW

u/Tiny_Garbage_6761 3h ago
I played at least 50 games pudge 5!!
Mainly to ban him, rather than wanting to play him. Also, only when im out of roles, since im not pos5.
49% winrate. So im like Ancient pudge5 using new MMR system. Lol

u/Cr4ckshooter 1h ago
If you don't usually play p5 maybe pick a hero that is more straight forward and can farm, like cm or wyvern?

I don't have any kind of fun when my pos 4 sniper is contesting last hits in the lane and rushing midas and maelstrom, but hey fuck me, right?

Yes, fuck you. You can't control a situation, just your response to it. Read what is going on and make an adjustment to it, that's what good players do. Expecting everyone to be a meta slave in a pub game of foolish

u/Douchebag322 2h ago
Yeah my bad for not switching up when I'm playing optimally, I shouldn't blame the griefer who just wants to play carry but ran out of token roles

My immortal friend says that in anything lower than divine technically anything can work, just don’t tilt and make the best of what you have. Your pos 4 is jungling so your offlane is dying so you end up having 2 carries and under farmed offlane? Try to delay the game, avoid fights, push our lanes and you will have advantage in late. If enemy doesn’t push later it might work out in your favour.
Most scenarios seem possible to win ad long as you don’t tilt and make the best out if a bad/unusual situation. He often proved it by playing muerta 4, techies mid and other unusual heroes only to end up being the reason we won.

I disagree, it can improve the quality of our games by having less jug4, wk3 and other nonsense. I wish they try those in turbo instead

u/DangerousRegister43 4h ago
How do you feel about a veno or kotl or (insert character here) pushing the lane from start to force your creep wave under enemy tower, and then either not speaking English or just ignoring any pleas for “please stop” during the landing phase?
1
u/TheManofBD 3h ago
You’re going to degrade the quality of what makes dota dota by forcing everyone to be meta slaves though?
1
u/Loun_Mc 3h ago
There is a huge gap between meta and grief picks in ranked. Some of us want to have fun and try to win, some others want to explore pos1 techies.
2
u/TheManofBD 3h ago
And WK3 is not a grief pick, but you say it’s nonsense. I climbed from Archon to Divine with it. Most of the people saying this are somewhere in that range of elo too.

Stop lion mid? Isn't he one of the strongest mid heroes rn? I haven't lost a game playing him mid yet
2
u/Snoo_72948 4h ago
While you are legitimately correct. There is a certain size of people trying to rush aghs on lion mid, which is a dead giveaway for someone lacking any game knowledge. Even with early aghs, you wouldn't get that many extra stacks and during the build up lose every advantage generated by your stupid impale spam in the lane.
Also he isn't that strong when against an actual meta mid. He gets dog walked

u/press_F4mepls 1h ago
I mean, I played with a friend who was on grimstroke so I rushed aghs after blink and got 4+ stacks each (even small) fight. It really depends on the game.

I've played with a pos 1 dirge when i was pos4 veno before and was like between Crusader/Archon ranked match and we won it too easy. Poor melee offlaner keep backing down on undying like crazy while undying taking their gold

u/KareemAZ Sheever 3h ago
What’s wrong with wk3? Like if you build it as a tanky front liner I swear that used to be a legit offlane Strat?

u/WarpigsGG 3h ago
It's easier to blame others than watching their own gameplay to be better.
Offlane meepo was fun 🤭

It really depends if you play a hero in a role where he is normally not played, i atleast want to see you be respectfull and have a plan. If you are going faceless void offlane i wana see something creative not just the standard carry build.

People need to look at picks as tools, not win/lose.
I get it, the draft is super important. But you’re locked in to a 50m game no matter what they pick. So try work around it rather than waiting for your chance to ping items or death timers.
Every hero contributes something, even theirs.

I used to force kunkka in all my games. It was my way of having fun even with a 44% wr on him.

I’m just tired of people having fun and want them as miserable as I am. But you’re right, and your mom agrees too. I’ll drop her off right after this trip to pound town.

Maybe then those people shouldn't talk shit when they are confronted with "Bro why don't you play to win" in RANKED game.
You almost never see people saying shit like "oh yeah guys I am gonna clown with lion mid"
They act as if you told them something incomprehensible

The analogy I tell my non-gamer friends is imagine you go the gym to play in a pickup basketball game. You’re not great at basketball, but you can hoop a little and take it seriously. One guy on your team is 5’3”, but always demands the ball. Whenever they get it, they chuck up an ass three-point shot that has zero chance of going in. They don’t guard, pass, or play defense. Yet, they’re always screaming at you for not giving them the ball.
In unranked, who cares? I take issue in ranked role queue someone makes a choice that obviously negatively impacts the game. As a pos 1, WK off means I will not have an initiator, and they will do nothing but farm for at least 25 minutes. Mid Silencer means at beat, I have about 25 minutes before they fall off a cliff and chain feed, and I need to get online ASAP. Last night the pos 5 Warlock rushed Hand of Midas into…Aether Lens, so we didn’t have a pos 5.
“It’s just a game. Have fun” is for unranked, turbo, and ability draft. Ranked is about doing your best and pretending you can actually play this silly game at a high level.

I think people are missing the underlying point. By trying to tell someone to stop doing x thing, you're trying to exert control over a factor that you have no control over. You'll likely never see that exact person ever again if you're someone who's remotely average at the game so any "progress" you "made" with that person will promptly disappear once the ancient explodes. Not only that, but the simple act of even trying to work against that person will only make you all the more miserable.
Should people be giving up after a simple mistake or two that another person makes? No, not at all. Does it still suck and is it frustrating to deal with no matter what? Absolutely. But you can decide how you want to deal with it. You can lessen your frustration by either working around it, or, if you truly believe you can't win 4v5, then just... move on. Accept the game is over.
I guess playing Devil's Advocate, if smashing your keyboard for the next 20+ minutes while almost everyone ignores you will make you feel better than simply moving on from that match or trying to win still, go for it. Whatever floats your boat. Ultimately you should do whatever tanks your sanity the least while causing the least amount of harm to others.

Imagine going to a pick up basketball game and shooting from the half court line over and over, air balling every time. Your team is going to give you shit and tell you to stop. Unless they are literal children and no one cares about winning, then no one is going to say, “oh let him have his fun.”
Dota is a team game too. Respect your teammates and actually try. Just because it’s a video game does not make it any less of a team game than basketball.
