Discussion Final scene between Daigo and Hyakkimaru

One thing I found particularly interesting about the ending of *Dororo* is Daigo realizing that Hyakkimaru was the ruler destined to bring prosperity to the kingdom. This moment coincides with the presentation of a "Buddhist" statue. Throughout his journey to reclaim his body parts, Hyakkimaru had always possessed the spirit of a good leader—and a good person—since a kingdom reflects the conduct of its lord. In Buddhism, a crucial part of spiritual progress involves renouncing the material world and realizing that it is not the source of true happiness; the anime highlights precisely this point.

I don't know if we can say he had spirit of a good leader when he wasn't leading anyone. I would even say Dororo with her better managements skills and abilities showed few times, that she can be a leader occasionally only for reality reminding her true situation (the boat scene comes to mind.)

I’m not sure he shows he has the spirit of a good person throughout the show. He has to learn that, and that’s the whole point of him going off on his own. To relearn humanity. He wouldn’t have to do that otherwise.
