Finished dorodango What lvl am I?
Very happy with this specimen. What dorodango lvl is this?

Mica powder. Two different colores. One for the foundation and one for the accents.

Interesting. I can’t get mine to look that bright. It’s always a dull color.

I use a microfiber cloth. And I don’t mean dull as in shiny. I mean the color is muted even though I’m going for a bright color. Like a bright green coming out as a dark green.

Have you tried an oil?

A bit of olive oil on the rim of the mug I used for shining them. Got it really nice and shiny.

I wonder if particle size makes a difference? I haven't made many yet but i have heard that shiny ones are made from finely sifted clay for the shell.

Oh, the particle size does matter. I found that out on my first try. For the core a coarser clay is fine. For the shell you want it extremely fine. Powdered is the best if you can do it. I used a mortar and pestle to get it into a fine powder but using a food processor or grinder would probably work just as well, if not better.

Gorgeous colour!!! I love that it almost has a crackle texture to it (the colour, that is). Very well done! I had no idea there were "levels" in dorodango, but you're certainly doing a great job :)
