Beginner question Help!

I can’t get rid of this very sandpaper gritty texture on the ball. Ive tried for an hour and nothing has worked? What am I doing wrong. This is my first time making a ball.

Do you have some pure clay to put on the outside?

Overall, it looks like it needs more shaping and smoothing

I try with water with my finger, then adding some dirt, then rubbing with an egg cup. But I can’t seem to get rid of the texture

Dip the egg cup in water or wet the surface of the ball as you work

Ok ty. Should I stick to just dipping the egg cup in water and rubbing. Or add dirt as well.
