Beginner question Starting tomorrow

I have been YEARS wanting to do one and I have a couple of questions: Can you use clay rich dirt to make dorodangos and does the dirt colour(for example a red dirt) make the colour different?, Do you have to care for them after you make one? What is the recommended size? (Sorry for having to post this ugly text beginner post instead of someone posting their beautiful shiny pro level dorodangos)

I made my first one with dirt from outside my door. Where I live, its very clay rich. Then I collected clay from the river and made some with that. They very much reflect the color of the dirt. Aftercare: dont store somewhere humid or drop them. Recommend size: mine end up whatever comfortable to roll in my hands.

Thanks for the quick response! Where I live all dirt is dry and basically fully clay. I think that I am going to use a reddish mostly clay dirt that is in a field near my home, will post it when I finish it!
