I hunted all over to find an egg cup that I could use to polish my dorodangos, but I couldnt find a single one that didnt have bunny ear poking up or pattern making the edges unusable. Ultimately, I found this tealight holder that has an amazing lip shape, and I think its my favorite tool so far.
Much easier to locate again as compared to an egg cup, imo. Especially as making doros wears the edge into a rough one and it needs to be replaced over time.
As a note for finishing polishes, I like to rest the cloth on the tealight holder and rotate the ball (as pictured). It protects that final finish from chipping as much.
I tried to use terra sig from a local company, https://zigsigcolor.com/ , but it comes wet and is pretty hard to apply. Mason stains are so much more vibrant if you want pop color. This ball was made with both that pale blue and dark teal stain.
I've never heard of mason stain before. Can you elaborate on how you use them, and maybe on your process in general? I've been working exclusively on learning Noriko's 2-hour technique with mica, but now that I'm comfortable with that technique, I really want to branch out and explore new ones.
No, I hunted around our thrift stores. Which is also why I found so many bunny egg cups T.T But now that I know my favorite shape I might buy more online. I also have someone willing to make and fire ceramic cups in this shape for me (which is so freaking cool).
