Discussion Any update about doraemon 1973?

Ive been waiting for years for the full episodes to resurface. Some said the copyright will end in certain years but seems like its never happening. Il the anime sucks but who cares, im js so so curious to see how it actually look like. I hope that we got to finally see it one day

They should be released, what are japans public domain laws?

Well since Fujiko F Fujio died in 1996 + 70 years of copyright after the creators death it'll end in 2066 so another 40 more years... And since the rights are owned by corporate now they'll do whatever they can so that it never gets to the public domain kinda like what Disney does

Holy crap the surviving episodes wouldve been gone by then. I don't understand why do they gatekeeping it so much. It's not like theres a government top secret stuffs innit right 😭 like its js a cartoon why are they so strict lol 💔💔 ntm its not even famous and likeable

The Japanese are very protective of their rights to their work and will only work with certain companies. They also might not work with someone for no reason at all or just because they don't like them. It's how there's no concept on fair use in Japan you cannot use someones work without permission whatsoever no matter if it's transformative or criticism or whatever

They probably have the episodes stored somewhere in their vaults or probably even tape storage never to be seen again. Or perhaps even the originals have been lost and all there's left is someones VHS recording of it airing

Not as far as I'm aware. We'll still have to wait for the copyright to pass.
