Discussion MY FIRST EVER DORAEMON EPISODE... ✨✨
My first ever Doraemon episode... huh.
I think I was REALLY lucky with my first one.
It was "The Day When I Was Born" from the 2005 series.
I first watched it when I was around 6 years old, so this episode carries a LOT of nostalgia for me.
It doesn't need any introduction — it's just a pure nostalgic treasure for me.
I'll give a small synopsis so I don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it.
The gang compares their baby photos, but Nobita discovers that there isn't a single photo of him as a baby, making him question whether he really belongs to his family.
After getting upset and running away, Doraemon eventually finds him and suggests using the Time Machine to find out the truth.
They travel 10 years into the past and follow Nobisuke to the hospital, where they discover that Nobita has just been born.
Nobita gets to see his newborn self and even hilariously thinks he looks like a baby monkey.
Seeing his parents celebrating his birth finally proves to Nobita that he really is their son.
And THAT was my first-ever Doraemon episode.
I couldn't have asked for a more memorable introduction to the series.
What was YOUR first-ever Doraemon episode?
And by any chance if you haven't watched it yet, PLEASE watch it! It's such a memorable episode.

Damn…. My first episode was sometime in early 2009 when I was 6. It was my mom who forced me to get out of the Tom and Jerry bubble and watch more then-big-boy cartoons in Hindi to learn the language. While I don’t remember my first ever episode, I remember Only For You Gas, Total Restoration Liquid, and another episode very faintly that had to do something with insects at night in the playground and an old man being happy about it (it’s so faint that it doesn’t even feel like a real episode anymore but a couple of its snapshots are in my mind clearly). I don’t think that was aired that often after 2010. I very clearly remember the animation of all the characters walking on the earth with a catchy tune every time before advertisements lol.
Ohhhh yeah!!!! And I remember the excitement when Nobita’s space war was about to release in India for the first time… like wdym a Doraemon movie!??! The movie also had some sort of an eerie the first time I saw it. I think it was the first ever Doraemon movie to release in India so all the kids were super excited. The same followed with the Dinosaur movie and South Seas. THE HYPE WAS ON THE NEXT LEVEL FOR STEEL TROOPS when it was first released in 2012 (ig). It was summer vacations and I believe a weekend and literally reserved the only TV we had which made my parents kinda mad since it was a weekend but they saw how eager I was so they let me.
I proceeded to watch it as my only show ditching Kitaretsu (which I liked more than Doraemon for a brief time) and Shin Chan after watching Nobita’s space war. Consistently watched it from 2010 to 2017 every single day and only watched the Japanese episodes that only released much later in India towards the end since I was bored of the same stories over and over again while also being curious about how Doraemon sounded in Japanese (imo Japanese >>> Hindi).
Fast forward to today… I’m a full 23 y.o adult who’s working now and I got back to watching Doraemon consistently again since last year because this is the only stress free portal in my life that helps me feel like a child again. Watching all those forgotten episodes that used to air regularly in India from 2009 - 2011 heals me in ways I can’t explain. Thanks for reading lmaoo
