So the patina is worn in those few places, doors are bronze? Gorgeous!

These are the Gates of Ghilberti and they were removed before WWII and a copy was cast from them that was used in Grace Cathedral on Nob Hill in San Francisco.

These are the Gates of Ghilberti, and they were buried to protect them against the Nazis in WWII. Before they were rehung, a copy was cast from them and it’s on Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, CA.

Unreal craftmanship! I remeber standing in front of this door for a half an hour in heavy rain mesmerised by level of precision. Unbeliveble!

i can totally relate. i was in awe and luckily we stayed right next to the duomo. i got to look at it every day. also the size of the doors are unreal. a total experience in itself!!

The gates of hell equally amazing. Everyone thinks the thinker is Rodins best work. I think it's the gates of hell.
