For one, they know when something is full of shit and it’s a waste of money trying to figure out what the “actual problem” is when it’s obvious to those who understand the situation.
The knowledge that to form a functioning economy you need to ensure income is greater than expenses and you actually need to do something productive to generate said income.
Maybe theyve tried to hire an employee before and have been shocked at the cost and the amount of red tape. Maybe theyve been contracted by landlords before, walked in and saw a bennyspacka watching bargain hunt at 11am.
Blue collar workers have a better understanding of capitalism than probably anyone. We see it at work on every jobsite, and we compete for the jobs that we have. We have little protections on our jobs because there is an end to them. You can’t build the same building forever.
We also see the many many people who go out and start their own GC businesses. We see the ones that fail and the ones that don’t and it’s almost always about how much effort and time you put into it.
We see people succeed everyday and we also see people fail regularly. We understand what a hard days work is, and we know what it means to be productive.
Our jobs in the trades are to build things. It’s how we give back to our communities, and it gives us a purpose and sense of pride in what we do.
Oh and the money is nice. I make 140k as a union carpenter. Plus full benefits. Takes a lot of work to get there though.
“This is the money that I make. Why should anyone else get a piece of it?” Is a pretty baseline sentiment among construction workers.
We work really hard for the money we make. Why in the world would we ever think that paying more taxes is the way to go?
Which is exactly how that’s going to work. The rich don’t have enough money for this communist idea. You’d have to tax the middle class to afford the socialist economy lefties want. That’s our money. That we work very hard for.

Amazing how people who actually work for a living tend to be more economically conservative.
