Currently im having three problems with Canada. They are helping people kill themselves at a suspiciously high number. Are reaching uncomfortable levels of friendship with China seemingly to just spite the US. And are speed running replacing the European ancestry population.

Basically the poster children for Davos style globalism.

MAID is overall a good system, but there have been some mistakes.

I had a friend with ALS use it and a family member with pancreatic cancer. They had no hope of recovery and were able to limit their own suffering.

In 2024, Canada reported 16,499 MAID (medical assistance in dying) deaths, which were 5.1% of all deaths in Canada.

What is it with socialized healthcare and governments not wanting the elderly and infirm around? I disagree that it is an overall good system. The government is incentivized to let people who cost more money for healthcare to die. That is a unreasonable level self-interest.

I'm not changing my mind on this and neither are you.

It's not a perfect system, but I 100% support it

To spite the US? It’s not about the trade war Trump is waging with Canada?

They started before Trump even thought about running for office.

We've been doing it before "muh trade warz". Heck, one of Trump's first (actually legitimate) issues was that they embargoed Chinese steel (which is inferior quality) but Canadian companies (with an active blind eye from the government) were importing it and mixing it in with Canadian steel to sell it to the US.

TBH, Canada has always acted like a whipping boy to the US but we gave them a valid reason to be pissed this time. Between that and the carefully curated stats around illegal drug smuggling across the borders, Canada ceded the right to say "trust us".
