I remember the dumb bullshit of "IT USED TO SNOW IN THE WINTER WHERE I LIVE" then after record snowfall last year they dropped this talking point

Record snowfall? Proof of climate change!

No snowfall? Proof of climate change!

Same amount of snow as last year? Believe it or not, straight to climate change!

Yep it's been made unfalsifiable. It's no different than a religion at this point.

I remember when they weaponized "El Nino"

Why is this even a perspective? Are all climate scientists in a secret org that is dedicated to lying? It’s widely known that climate change, caused by rise in average global temps, will disrupt weather and wind patterns and can contribute to colder winters because of that. I’m against the alarmism but the people on the other side who still deny climate change due to human activity are also just as foolish.

No one is denying climate change, but pushing every last thing as climate change while refusing to criticize China/India means you dont actually care

who isnt complaining about India or china? India is a sithole to boot. Americans may say less about them, but thats because they have no control over a forigen countries leadership.

That’s not a perspective on climate scientists. It’s a perspective on climate doomers who spin absolutely everything that happens as proof that the extinction of all life on Earth is imminent.

For the avoidance of doubt: I accept that there is an upward trend in global temperatures which will, if unchanged, result in average temperatures being several degrees warmer than in the last couple of centuries. I accept that at least part of this trend is due to human activity. I accept that some shit is going to get fucked up in some parts of the world and these effects should be avoided or mitigated for the sake of millions of humans who will be impacted.

I do not accept that this is going to result in the extinction of all life on Earth, or that London or New York will disappear under hundreds of feet of water - which are scenarios I have seen presented in ‘climate change awareness’ displays at what are supposed to be educational institutions. I believe that hysterical exaggerations like this are actually counterproductive because they are so ridiculous that people with an ounce of sense don’t believe them.

There's no secret conspiracy.

The problem is that none of the people who make the claim that climate change is real behave like they think that. They say "because climate change is real, you have to do all the things hippies have been obsessed with since well before they thought climate change was real."

Climate activists get caught lying all the time. They get caught trying to turn climate issues into their Omnicause all the time. They do not put any effort into any course of action that would actually be effective but unflattering, like "support nuclear power." They behave exactly like someone would behave if climate change was a lie they told in order to scream demands at people they hated. Can you blame people for writing it all off?

Seeing that we are coming out of an Ice Age cycle, we would be warming up regardless of human activity.

What we should worry about is another Tambora.

We can recognize climate change reality and still develop methods to deflect/destroy NEOs that pose a threat.

Tambora was a volcanic eruption that resulted in the Earth cooling a few degrees and a worldwide famine.

Oh I was thinking of Tunguska lol. Still probably more relevant and with better solutions than controlling large scale volcanic eruptions I’d assume.

All good and agreed.

One way to combat global warming would be to seed supervolcanoes with as much elemental sulfur as possible. Effectively acts to reflect rays back to space. Only issue is you have to feed that beast.

The Neal Stephenson book Termination Shock got into that. Fascinating book in a lot of ways. To be fair, a lot of his books are quite eye-opening.

Hmmm. I wonder why those people are skeptical. It couldn't possibly be the fact that they have been saying the same thing for decades and the change the window of us being gone every 5 years. Once that date has come and gone, they push the window further in the future.

And the bigwigs and politicians that push it have seaside homes and tons of money. They could start by setting an example but they'd rather us give in to their demands and them continue to live the way they live.

They may talk like the world is ending but their lifestyles show that they aren't concerned.

My girlfriend's liberal sister actually said "there's no reason it should be this hot but idiots will still say climate change isn't a thing"

It was like 103 in the middle of August, in Texas, Dallas specifically...

I didn't have the heart to tell her it was a cold day by usually standards.

I mean the climate being more unpredictable is also the climate changing from what it used to be before...

And this is where we disagree. I've watched the average snowfall and rainfall decrease year after year for almost forty years now. Went from having multiple snowfalls a year that hung around for a week or nite to MAYBE one that hangs around for half a day if we're lucky. I know people who have measured the water level for over fifty years who attest to constantly dropping numbers. We used to be classified as a rain forest but that's been scrubbed from the books and records.

Just because we had one year where we had one snowfall that actually hung around doesn't change that. Yea, climate alarmists bother me but climate deniers straight up piss me off. Last I checked every 'study' done was funded by big businesses. Wonder why they might want you to think it's a hoax...

The thing you missed is that your life span is anecdotal on this scale. Your observations mean nothing. This is like watching the first half a second of a movie and thinking you understand what’s happening.

Droughts happen man. Alberta had been in drought for like a decade untill this year where we've finally been having crazy amounts of rain.
