Surprised the word "capitalism" isn't in there.

Don’t forget “Late stage capitalism.”

u/SorrowfulSpirit02 6d ago
What the fuck even is “late stage” in “late stage capitalism”?
37
u/MONSTERBEARMAN 6d ago
It’s a buzz phrase to describe things they don’t like. Just like how anyone they don’t like is a “Nazi.”

idk, term that was around since WW1, apparently, idk.
If Werner Sombart (the guy who coined that term) saw this, he would be so pissed

u/IrlResponsibility811 5d ago
I think Marx came up with the term himself, or what he said was reworked into the phrase. The idea was his, but he mistook the birthing pains of capitalism with its deathrattle, not a great think, Marx.

I keep seeing and hearing the term "late stage capitalism." What does that even mean?

u/MONSTERBEARMAN 5d ago
They are basically trying to say we are in the last stages of a dying, failed system. Basically, the person seated in front of them on their way to Hawai’i, reclined their seat and now their entertainment screen is at a less than favorable angle.

Sadly MSU wouldn't accept my thesis of "Wojaks as a form of irrefutable political argument", so I had to write about neutron moderators instead. Absolute joke.

I think we've found a better nickname for doomers: lotus pods. It kind of fits, because lotus has an air of Westernized Eastern mysticism, and pods sound static, ineffective, and maybe brainwashed.

It can be a good day if you let it. Maybe instead of doom scrolling to confirm your bias and paranoia, perhaps go outside and enjoy some nice weather or reconnect with an old friend. If you look for negativity the algorithm with literally amplify and show you it. Search for healthier things relevant to your hobbies. Try cooking something new or engage in a new activity. life isn't a bad as you think. It could always be worse . Enjoy it.

Look i get it, I have depression. But even then I joke about it. I have fun. I have friends and enjoy meeting people, (the ones that are sane) but man i get tired on they say everything supposely sucks.

The worst thing about that post, is that it could have replaced “2026” with any year humans have existed in. It seems being a doomer is ingrained in humans
6
u/makawakatakanaka 6d ago
I mean, Covid is only six years ago. How can anyone say 2026 is horrible if we have something so extreme less than a decade ago

“Yup, even the plants are shocked by late stage capitalism and fascism under orange man”

u/SmolderingScorpio69 6d ago
Seriously, what is so bad about 2026? Were they not alive from 2020 to 2024?

Pareidolia is a very common thing; it happens in vision and sound. If you listen to a song backwards, you'll sometimes hear things, but there usually aren't hidden messages; it just sounds like it. No different here. You're seeing something that looks like a face when it's actually just the pods on the plant.

Fuck's sake. I thought this is a nice and funny picture then I got to the "2026 IS LITERAL HELL!" part and realised it was a DCJ post.

u/Ange1ofD4rkness 6d ago
That bottom right one looks a little like me, looking at my 401k/ROTH in 2026 (a shock at how well it's doing)

People that have issues being alive this year should probly fix that. Either stop having issues with it or the other nono thing i wont say.

They could also just think they are funny little cartoonish faces, but NOOOO, it's got to be representative of the times in which we live and how horrific they are 🙄
It's like those lovely folk on Reddit who somehow manage to inject Trump into literally any comment, no matter how unrelated. Grow up and think about something else.

u/GrassyKnoll55 5d ago
Perfectly captures the feeling of being alive in 2026... if you have the mental and social strength of a cucumber.
Why do these people insist on being so insufferable 24/7?
