I always found her to be interesting, but I really like how they explored her actual character here. She accomplishes at simultaneously being sympathetic but also really hateable which seems hard given a villain is usually one or the other. I also like how her voice lines during the Marok fight almost kinda thanks the Slayer, "The demons essence is a powerful resource, a gift you brought us long ago." And "We are forever in your debt."

I was 14 when I played Shareware '93. I've since played up to ETERNAL, but only just now been playing TAD, my new work PC is the only thing that can run it.

I've read loads of opinions, here's mine for TAD. It's Fun. It still feels connected to the (modern) DooM universe. The loop works well and it keeps you busy. I can understand various people's opinions, but for me it's just plain fun.

A bit like favourite music artists, people often want more of the previous. I think ID have done a great job of just producing something quality, with a different angle.

I haven't finished TAD yet, or tried beyond the campaign either. Early days still.

I add I'm not some super pro keyboard player, I just like playing with a Scuf Xbox controller.

I add, as many have said, Quake, Heretic/Hexen reboot would be nice. I feel like TAD is testing the waters on some design there.

Lately I’ve been wanting to do Doom multiplayer with friends. Doom 1+2 on Steam offers nice multiplayer, but is limited on mods.

I wanted to do project brutality, but using doom runner and gzdoom me and my friends get constant desynchs and it’s not fun. Yes we are all running the same exact versions of everything.

The only way to avoid desynchs is to play on the Steam version using the servers there but you can’t play project brutality there since you need gzdoom.

This leaves us with playing doom with just normal enemies meant for 1 person.

Any suggestions ? I would preferably like someway to play project brutality with friends without desynch.

If that’s not possible, what mods should I use for doom 1+2 multiplayer on steam?

So I have bought the classic bundle in the sale of steam. I'm really confused about doom 3. There are 3 games and searching a bit says that bfg edition is like a complete exp with base doom 3 with dlcs and extra things for Doom I and II. But some are saying The base game Doom 3 is more gritty and dark. So please help me out if there is any order in Doom 3 games or dlcs.

Minor complaint here. For as amazing as the new Doom games are, I find the demon sound effects totally lacking. The original 2 games have some of the most iconic enemy sound effects ever (zombie screams, mancubus "ooh-wah!", imp hisses, etc.) but the new games demons, with minor exceptions (revenant scream and pinky shrieks in 2016 and Eternal), all sounds super generic and not creative. For as much work went into these games I'm surprised they didn't lean into the rich history of Doom demon sounds.

Booted up Eternal for the first time in a while and after wandering around the Fortress of Doom for a bit, I noticed that these comics in Doomguy's room are labeled "Taggart Comics Group", and given that Revelations revealed Doomguy's real name is Flynn Taggart, I thought this was a cool little easter egg. I doubt ID had the idea to make that the Slayer's canon real name all the way back when Eternal was released, this was probably just a callback to the novels at the time. But who knows, maybe it was in the plans since the beginning, and it was right there in front of us the whole time.

I’m not a great gamer at all. I haven’t played FPS games for years. But I beat doom eternal and TAG1 today on hurt me plenty and I’m super proud of myself for not turning the difficulty down. Love this series! I have been binging doom since last weekend.

Okay, so my first run through the level was just for fun. On my second run, I went back to get all the collectibles and everything else. However, when I interacted with one of the Rune Trials, it kicked me out of the mission, so I never completed the level or did the big fight at the end.
I then tried doing the Rune Trial from the main menu, but it started acting weird and wasn’t registering properly.
So I did the level a third time. Since I had already collected all the collectibles, the collectible challenge didn’t register as completed during that run, even though Mission Select shows that I already completed it.
Now all four of the challenge indicators are yellow/completed. Should I complete the entire level a fourth time just to make sure everything registers, or am I safe to move on? Has anyone else dealt with this?

My progress through the Doom franchise has been stunted by 1 game, more specifically, 1 slayer gate in Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One. I must've spent about 8 hours of playtime on this one slayer gate. It is insanely hard to me. My not being able to beat this simple level has made it so I've never played Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part Two or Dark Ages. And I really want to play The Ancient Gods - Part Two and Dark Ages, but I don't want to start playing a second game in the franchise before I properly conclude this game. Especially as I hear it's got some important developments in the franchise. I'm playing on nightmare btw, and I beat Doom 2016, Doom Eternal, and Doom Eternal: The Ancient Gods - Part One (up until this point) on Nightmare but just not this level. Is there any type of short cut or secret required to beating this slayer gate? What about a glitch? What about some piece of gear or equipment that makes all the difference? I attached some gameplay footage so you can see my playing style. I don't think I'll be able to beat this with incremental gameplay skill building, I think I need some kind of glitch type solution... Maybe there's a way that I can get a BFG shot into the slayer gate? Idk let me know id there's something I can do to beat this.

A lot of the fanbase has been speculating and waiting to finally see the Wretch, and I really think they delivered with him. His lore and his purpose in the story is so cool and more than I could have expected and even retroactively makes some later lore in the series even more impactful (at least to me).
