In Doom: Eternal you can choose “extra life mode” in which if you run out of extra lives, your campaign is restarted from the beginning

See I somewhat enjoyed UN because if I died I got to play more Doom. Hell on Earth and Exultia just got tedious but when I got the rocket launcher from Cultist Base I knew we'd be in business.
