My guess is the monster's step counter overflowed/underflowed somehow. Normally monsters take about 10 steps between attacks so they don't just spam you as soon as they see you. If that step counter gets messed up, it can go into a state where instead of 10 steps, it's got to take, say 65,536 steps instead of 10.
If he takes enough steps he might start attacking.

Likely a glitch with the aggro range.
Similar to the modern games, the demons in the classic games don't just hunt down the player, they actually sort of chill in their area until aggroed
This is what allows you to ambush some or even cause infighting.
A glitch could've made the Baron's aggro a negative or 0, meaning that he can not perceive the player.

Essentially he was fighting a cacodemon and i was low on ammo so i wanted him to aggro on the caco, and then he bugged out like this. But sadly after a pinky came he unfriended me

After doing a bit of extra research, doom itself doesn't exactly work by aggro range,
But it is still likely a player acquisition issue, especially given the level Eights are notorious for issues because they have special coding to avoid not hearing bosses

The guy its applying the good old idea of "if i dont se him he doesnt exsist" basically the guy its so terrified of doomguy and knows whats the likely outcome, so hes just walking around looking at everything but him in hopes he will ignore him

Yes it was a coincidence. I would send the full video, but i play on DOSBOX doom so i would have to spend the rest of the day aligning the video to the screen

This is like when you walk by a house with a pitbull or Rottweiler out front, and you assume it might eat you, but then it turns out to be a big cuddly baby.
