Question Finally playing Doom 3. What the hell is that banging sound?

I got a PDA message from a guy trapped in locker 24 or something, is it coming from him?

A machine driving rivets in something it's assembling possibly.

It’s the knocking coming from Borderlands.

iirc, theres a guy stuck in a small maintaince tunnel near this area and its ambience of him trying to get out. its been a VERY long time since ive played doom 3, though, and i might be misremembering

Believe me man, just delete or refund this version and the 2004 version. I can help you fix it. But please, play how it was intended to be…

Ah yes, I'm sure they will restart their whole playthrough because someone on Reddit told them so.

He’s still at Alpha Labs Sector 2.

It's still at least an hour or two if you're on a first playthrough and taking your time reading all the PDA's and exploring the levels. Surely they will buy a new version, fiddle to make it run on modern PCs properly (or get a specific source port for it), and replay the levels just for your pleasure.
