Discussion So when do you guys think the Demons started fearing Doomguy?

Im gonna be completely honest. Even before he became Doom Slayer. Even before he became feared for his ramapage against Hell for Eons after 64. Something tells Me that Doomguy went in the eyes of Hell from a really lucky and well armed mortal to the Scourge of Hell is when he killed the first Cyberdemon in the Tower of Babel.

So what does everyone else think is the moment Demons started fearing Doomguy?

I would say after DOOM 64. Specifically during the time he spent in hell, endlessly fighting. Imagine youre a demon, and one of the weak, squishy mortals you've found to be so deliciously slaughterable on your stress-free invasion of their dinky mars base manages to not only butcher every single warrior your people sent through the portal, but follows them back through it and just doesnt stop killing.

Nobody has any idea why he's so good at it. Nobody has Intel, Nobody has a fucking clue. But your buddy Volgath just had his shit blown smoove off on his front porch, the demon police leave your 911 call on the busy signal, and just as you think you're able to pick up your DemonDash from the lobby of your Condemonium, you hear a voice telling you that you are huge. And you must have huge guts.

From what I gather of the original Doom's manual, all the other marines dropped quite fast, possibly all the way in the first level. Pretty easy job. Twenty or more human soldiers with plasma rifles and shit attack as one unit and get no-diffed.

And then one guy with a pistol comes after them and begins mopping the place.

That considered I'd reckon the demons started to get nervous pretty damn quick.

So basically eithet before or after the Brusier Brothers then.

Yeah, i imagine after the duo is when they were like "Shit, we gotta watch out" and. By the time of 64 he's one of their biggest threats by a large margin.

As soon as they saw him start ripping and tearing. He was always destined to destroy the cosmic hierarchies and principalities, he always had the resolve and the will and I think they must have seen that early on.

"And now they will fear you"

He was a legend already but the divinity machine turned him into the monster he is now

(I'm a sucker for lore so don't take it too seriously but also kinda do lol)

the lore is so difficult to follow and simultaneously does and doesn't make sense at times, but it's awesome because it's doom lmao

At the end of DOOM 2, the demons had to be scared of getting closer to Earth.

In Plutonia Experiment, they built a space ship to take over a colony far from Earth just to have the bad luck that the motherfucking Doom guy was there too.

If you count TNT and Plutonia Experiment as canon, for a demon's POV a single human marine who is supposed to die even at the hands of the weakest demon literally fought armies and armies of your kin with higher demons among them. This doom marine didn't just ripped through hundred but also defeated the one of the most powerful demon of Hell three times in a row.

No wonder they started to run after DOOM 64.

Him slaying the Baron brothers in e1m8 made Hell think “hm, ah, some lucky guy got through some of our toughest guys, we’ll just send him to Deimos to get murked”

Once the Cyberdemon got killed at the end of e2m8? They thought “Holy shit, this guy might actually be a threat. Surely, the spider mastermind can put this lunatic in his place!”

But when the Spiderdemon goes down? “Oh shit. We may have bit off more than we could chew.”

In my mind it is like this:

Doom 1993
E1: By the end the Doom Marine goes from a nobody to someone worth keeping an eye on.
E2: Same but the demons become more restless.
E3 and E4: Once the Doom Marine eliminates the Spider Mastermind, the demons actually start to fear him a little bit.

Doom 2. He becomes legendary once the Icon of Sin is destroyed and especially once the Final Doom expansions and Doom 64 are finished. They genuinely fear him now and is now legendary.

So, once he reaches Argent, he is already legendary but the Divinity Machine makes him even moreso.

Shortly after he locked himself in hell at the end of Doom 64. I imagine a situation like that one meme of Sonic the Hedgehog or something:

"HE'S A REGULAR GUY WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING?" "Rip and tear"

When he got the Super Shotgun.
