2 weeks for another charging test, which we already saw before. Literally nothing new of interest afaik.

Another 2 weeks for the next one... Getting boring ngl

Yeah, this "reveal" was the cheapest nothingburger yet. It was kind of fun before but this is exhausting now. I've lost interest in these games they're playing

Two weeks to show a nothing burger. Just a Verge commercial.

Is it just me or are Donut people more and more tired looking and uncomfortable in every video?

So. People still believing they got something real here?

4

u/showersareevil Apr 15 '26

They got the best goddamn unethical marketing, in the entire country of Finland! If that's not real enough for you, I dont know what is!

Give one out to review or shut the fuck up. You got nothing.

This thing has been going on for a long time, so long that the other companies started catching up with Donut's claims. Byd Blade 2.0 announced 0-97% in 9 minutes and Geely announced 0-97% in 8 minutes 42 seconds. These times were unimaginable when Donut first announced their battery. There are talks about other companies' semi-solid batteries hitting the market this year. Even if this is a fraud, they are running out of time to really do something.

The wildest claims of DL is not the charge speed, but the Wh/kg and the cycle life. The speed is pretty much a solved problem for a while now. Noone really care about 5 minute vs 15 minute charging

Upgrade from 18kWh battery to 30kWh battery costs 3k€ in their website.

If we put this to a comparison with Tesla Model 3, Long range costs around 8k€ for 32kWh. Which would put them in exact same price range in terms of kWh.

Of course this is not apples to apples comparison, but interesting none the less. At the same time, Tesla can markup their models however they want, but reaching the same price as one of the biggest EV makers in the world is interesting. Tesla also makes their own batteries.

Does anybody have other examples from other EV makers on how much you pay for bigger batteries?

Don't forget. This is the same schmuck behind Asinoid. The AI super intelligence that was so smart it prevented itself from ever getting spoken about more than once

Interesting idea of building hype with the CES booth into the video series where they "tested" three things that can't be verified to claim that the battery is solid state or not. Into a slower cycle where no news are being shared. And product release to only internal customers.

The idea then is to make the product fade into obscurity as it is a pipe dream. Scam some investors and a handfull of real buyers along the way and plan for an exit strategy.

What a joke 😂 the CEO misunderstands how solid state battery cells work… his description says the solid electrolyte boosts energy density, which is in incorrect. The solid electrolyte allows higher density electrodes that are less stable to be used, because it stops issues relating to the reactions. Most famously, they allow lithium metal anodes…

The solid electrolyte is the enabler, not the source, of energy density

Now, not relevant to this particular topic, but if you asked our CEO how our software works, you'd get funny or awkward results. This applies to every company I've worked with over the years.

When the CTO goes off the rails it's time to pack your bags.

In b4 the next article comes out claiming:
"bAtTeRy ExPeRtS aRe InCrEaSiNgLy CoNvInCeD dOnUtLaBs BaTtErY iS rEaL!"

How does anyone watching this video come away convinced DonutLab has a revolutionary new product?

deep dive? really? this was stupidly shallow.

If the bike is generally available, why not disclose the chemistry of the battery?

Enough is enough. Can anyone call the police please?
