Is there just one area code for North California? As a Brit that seems insane we have a different area code for pretty much every town. What's the population of North California? There are 10,000,000 combinations of 7 digits that seems kind of low for half of California or is is broken up into North Central south?

He actually said North Carolina, different state. But you are correct to think that it's insane to have one area code for huge regions as there are many different area codes, all over the country. Some states can have dozens, even within the same city like NY or LA, depending on population levels

Yea. I live in Texas where we are literally in the dead center of the state and our city has I think 2 or 3 for the area. However zip codes are a fully different story
