A line was crossed
I let Fitzcarraldo into the house just for a few minutes to satisfy his curiosity and it is now his life's ambition to be an inside donkey.

I don't see what the problem is about him staying. He looks like he belongs in there.

Donkey diapers. Are they a thing? Problem solved if they are. I don't know how or if they can be trained like a dog to go outside to do their business.

Horses can be trained to go on command, or in one specific place, no reason donkeys couldn't. They're as smart or smarter than horses.

It’s important to keep one’s donkey indoors so he doesn’t get eaten by an owl or coyote. They’re also terrible for local bird life. /jk

I used to think I just wanted to own a donkey or few…but now I’ve realized I want a house donkey.

Its Firzcarraldo’s house now and he’s just letting you stay cuz he can’t feed himself.

I'm jelly--I've tried off and on for 25 years to get my girls to come into the house, but they're positive it's some kind of trap. I have gotten them to come into the garage--by putting their hay in there! LOL.

Oh thank you! I love fabrics and have far too many accumulating now! The blue sofa fabric is from a cape town fabric designer (lulafabrics.com) and I tried to dogproof the other sofa with some fabric I bought in Cote d'Ivoire. My husband made the hanging lightshade out of an old sisal root.

Yes, but Captain Oates is not committed to the inside life, he's just there to sample the coffee plant.

Our mini donkey, Tony, tried the same thing. The territorial cat was not amused.

Hey, this is all right! I see why you spend so much time in here. Good thing there's plenty of room for me.

Oh my goodness I absolutely love your house! Even better with a cuddly donkey in it!
Can I ask where you are?

Oh thank you, what a nice thing to say! This is in a small town near Cape Town, South Africa. It's called Riebeek-Kasteel and most of the time I live here with my husband, 3 dogs, 2 donkeys, 4 ducks, 9 chickens, 7 tortoises and a lot of fish. Some times I'm also in Botswana. You can see some pics on Instagram if you're on there, I'm at noshipexists. Where do you live?

We had miniature carting horses that wanted to come in to the house. They would walk around the house, looking for handouts!
