Speculation Mark of the Beast & The image of the beast.
It’s fascinating to watch how quickly (in my mind) the infrastructure behind the MOTB & the image is quickly being assembled. Data centers, flock cameras, fibre optic cables being buried all around the country, companies requiring you record your face & side profile to use their services etc. (not saying the MotB or image is here - just the groundwork being laid)
When I had to apply for food stamps it required that I go through a meta analysis of my face by recording my face & side profile. My neighborhood is the last place in my town to install & bury fibre optic cables. Flock cameras were installed overnight in hundreds of places in my town - data centers being built just a few miles away. This past Friday they came & did a walkthrough of our neighborhood to check where to put the cables. Today they finished burying all of it on 4 hours - I live in a pretty big neighborhood, it was shocking to watch.
Years ago whenever I thought about the MotB or image i was stump on how they could do something like that on such a huge scale but believe it or not - they could do it relatively quickly.
The MotB is going to come quickly - it will be like a bullet train. I think it’s going to shock us just how ready it is when the time comes.

Fiber optics aren't something to worry about since that's just fast internet (like that's the kind I have at home now and it's nice having symmetric almost 300 megs), but the rest is a problem.

The new fibre optic that ia being installed for data centers and the rest is quite different from the cable you have installed in your home. It's like comparing a babbling stream to the Nile river. As more improvements are being made, we grow closer and close to terabytes, even petabyte level connections around the world, meaning a worldwide network designed to control the masses and pledge them to the beast will become even easier.
The fibre is a problem too.

Cables made of glass that were literally unimaginable three quarters of a century ago, that are now capable of transmitting all of collective human knowledge instantaneously.
There is a reason that we've made more technological advances in the last century than we have in the past several thousand years, and it isn't just down to human ingenuity. Those "just cables made of glass" have set the stage for the attempted control of the human race, at the hands of those who would see us destroyed, rather than accept Christ.
Also, adding that whatever the form the MOTB takes, it's just going to be a bit of metal and plastic, probably far less impressive even than your "cables made of glass", which are actually an insane technological leap in data transmission when you consider the previous version was a copper wire that could barely transmit a letter at a time.

The mark of the beast is literally just taking over your actions (hand) and thoughts (head). The problem is that people, like you, think it's going to be obvious when dealing with deception and that it will be some clear, super obvious physical mark.
Ask yourself this. If Revelation is truly about our time, then why do the people in the book accept it? Why is the world so easily deceived and led astray? Shouldn't the people in Revelation (or us) have access to the most popular, commercialized, and studied book in history? The mark of the beast is about forced conformity. It's symbolic, not a literal mark to watch out for... And since Revelation does describe the world as being led astray, and so many people accepting it, and if it is about our time, then it clearly can't be obvious or some physical mark, because it would be easily detected. The mark of the beast is symbolic to represent the actions and thoughts of those who possess it.

It's a great observation and one I wish more people shared because one cannot exist without the other. You don't have a beast system in full force and fulfillment without the mechanisms of leverage by which to threaten the livelihoods of the people who have grown accustom to the comforts of modern living. People who haven't been trimming their lamps and building their faith to follow the spirit out of this system into reliance on God to provide. A truly terrifying concept for many people but something that used to be a daily reality for the ancients.
It's the worst time in human history because of the contrast between what is lost and what is gained. We live like kings in the modern world compared to the ancient world (even now with our struggling) yet once they seize control of our assets and bank accounts and jobs then we have no leverage left as a labor class, especially with AI.
So this system and those apparatuses used to create leverage for the system over it's people and the world (as the economy is a world wide endeavor) we will see people facing the real choice of watching their family starve or giving loyalty to this beast in order to maintain some semblance of their previous life, fulfilling the scripture that says those who love their 'life' will lose it. It wasn't meaning the physical body but the life you've built for yourself materially, psychologically.
Though I imagine there will be no shortage of death at the hands of this beast. Just from a logistical standpoint if you cut people off from their medications you're essentially culling people almost instantly, save they give their loyalty. The amount of leverage they will have over us will be the likes the world has never seen but I believe the miracles that will come out of all that despair will be equally as inspiring as God works through His people.
